I have a hard time buying generic anything. There's no company backing, nothing concrete in terms of quality, no standard so to speak.

Usually--there's a reason it's cheaper.

Then again--I don't want to pay money soley for a "name".

I'm sorry, but you guys spent 30+k on a car and you're looking to spend $100 on parts to mod it. Quit being so cheap.

it's not about being cheap, like a member stated on this thread earlier, a 3" piece of pipe is a 3" piece of pipe regardless of who makes it, there is no need to spend a lot of money just to have "JDM" brand name products, I personally come from the Honda world and my friends have 11 second Hondas with hardly any name brand parts. It's up to the owner to choose what parts he wants to install on his vehicle, some brand name parts are just plain-out overpriced. THIS IS MY PERSONAL OPINION!

No...I think it's a fact. So long as it's SS and 3 inches with no flaws and quality welding, then it's good.

What you're buying with a brand name is the company's backing and it's already established quality levels. These companies charge what they charge because they can--it's supply and demand. Items are only worth as much as people are willing to pay for it. As long as there are people who will pay 600 for an intercooler, or 1000 for a turbo-back exhaust...then the prices will remain that high.

great thread. I've been looking at ebay exhausts for a while now but have been always reluctant to get one. I just might. I don't care how much I spent on my car, there's now way in hell I'm spending 600 to 800 bux on SS piping just because of a name.

One company spends hours fabricating, and doing R&D for a certain product. A company will take that design, and copy it without the cost of hours of test fitting and doing R&D... hence the cheaper price.
Like someone said earlier, you are paying for the name...however there are items you should not cheap out on.
ebay fmic and manifolds are great mods...cheap, and effective.
there will always be something that is superb for example FullRace manifolds or PeakBoost manifolds, but ebay manifolds are so cheap and effective that who cares if they crack after 1 or 2years. buy another, or re-weld it. steel thickness and specs are same if not similar to name brands.
Who wouldn't want to have ARC / HKS / RalliArt products on our cars, but getting all name brand aftermarket parts can add up quickly. I don't have any ebay parts on my evo, but from personal experience on friends' cars... I give for some ebay parts!
Personally I'd rather put the money saved into my high yield interest savings account.

Sits just like the factory exhaust (no angled muffler out of the bumper)

Sounds okay, easy bolt-on.

AMAZING seller...replied within an hour to every e-mail I sent. 100% feedback with over 10,000 transactions

I just bought an ebay catback! http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...8035649&rd=1,1

Once I get it installed I will put up some pictures as well. It looks like a great quality system from what I see in the box. $239.00 shipped? Awesome!
