Exclamation ACD lights - Tarmac and Gravel both lit

On the way home from work today, I had the center diff set to Gravel because it was pouring rain. At some point during the drive, I'm not sure when, the Tarmac light came on as well, although noticeably more faint than the Gravel light.

If I scroll to Snow, then only the Snow light is lit. But if I scroll to Tarmac, then both Tarmac and Gravel become light, but Tarmac is slightly brighter.

Any idea what is going on here? Could this be an actual issue with the diff or just the lights?

Yes I'm going to dig into the dash this weekend given the time. I hear the one (or some) of the diffs whining more than usual every once in a while, I'm not sure if that is related. During my daily driving though I don't really make sure of them I'm sure, I don't push the car that hard.

Would it be possible for the diff to be acting "between" both modes somehow? What would be a tell-tale sign?

Oh I'm in Naperville, my commute takes me to Lombard every day mostly on 75th, Ogden, Finley.

I just had the same thing happen on the way home from work today. It was also in the rain/snow. Both the tarmac and gravel lights were on. I switched it to snow and only snow stayed lit. I also hear some unusual whining from the diffs once in a while. Did you find out any more info about this? I can't find any info regarding just 2 lights being on at once...

Take it to the dealership and let them worry about it.

Unusual whining sounds coming from the center diff is not a good sign.

Take it to the dealership asap and put your car back to stock before you take it in.

It has not happened since then. The day I went to get at the wiring, the lights had "fixed" themselves. The whining is still there, but I think it's the sound of the normal operation of the diffs. I've never driven a car with ANY lsd's before, let alone 3, so I'm not too familiar with what sounds right and what sounds wrong.
