Fusion said "call us" therefore it's very likely he's an officer.

It sounds like Fusion is definately a cop because he has stereotyped this "road rage" as an accident rather than an assault. Because they deal with it every day, that's what they do. (See, I'm just a commoner and I stereotype cops)

After reading SGT's initial post, I think he was right on. Should he have not followed? Maybe, I definately would have though... I've seen hit and runs where no one was ever caught (even with bodily harm) how is that justice? If someone followed them, maybe they would be help responsible...

The truck driver helping catch the DC sniper statement was right on!!!!

Here's some food for thought: If the other car was STOLEN, then how would a License Plate help in apprehending the suspect? If the suspect was able to get SGT to rear end him, and he or his son was hurt, or their car was disabled, what then?

There are thousands of variables but SGT has given a GREAT discription of what happened, no need for long responses like this one :-).

If a tree falls in the forest and nobody is around to hear it, does it make a sound?

If someone does this to SGT and doesn't HURT anyone, is that "ok"?

God Bless America...

There's no evidence to conclude that Fusion 7 is a cop, he stated that he's a 911 op, as stated in jis 1st reply, and I mean no offence to him by saying that ether.
Any type of physical "rage" expressed at a person is a form of assault, IMO.

God Bless you all and a Very Merry Christmas!!!!

That's crazy. I'm not even gonna read the rest of the thread, aside from the original post, because it's 6 pages long and inevitably full of posters full of false bravado and Monday morning QB-ing. I will say that you handled it pretty well. If I was in your shoes, especially with a loved one in the car, I don't know how I would have reacted. Maybe fight. Maybe flea. Who knows until you face it. Thank God everybody is OK though.

If I were you I'd honestly like to talk to that guy on the phone, man-to-man, and tell him you had a child in the car, and honestly ask him what you'd done in traffic that was so bad to have neccesitated what sounds like a half-hour ordeal. People are nuts. Especially this time of year, ironically.

Yah I guess so, I would be furious, but when it got out of hand I would deffinatley fear for my safety. I think you played it out right, except like you said maybe giving the looney more space would be best. Psychos...

I feel your pain brother. Thats why I always make sure I carry my .40 cal auto in my trunk. Here in VA, you don't need a permit to carry your gun in the car as long as the clip is far away from the weapon. I keep my gun in the trunk and clip in my glove compartment.

However, whenever I go into DC, which is very often, I have to pull it out each time. Its a real PITA. You don't want to get caught with a firearm in DC. Its worth it though. I rather always have it with me and never have to use it rather than get caught with my pants down that one time... Get your permit soon bro

wow crazy story... that stuff happens everyday! I would have got the license # and backed off and let the cops do what their there for... You are a sgt. as your profile says but that doesnt mean your a police officer who can take matters into your own hands esp. with your son in the car! thats nuts... Just glad your son didnt get hurt in your little mix up!
