To all Evo IX owners
i wouldnt trade it for the world.. IX muchh more HP with basic bolt ons that the VIII , Will definately have a higher resale value in the future... dash rattles occasionally. High maitenance , but fun comes at a price. Eating V-8's for breakfast .. PRICELESS
19k miles on a IX. One minor problem with the seat - the material started to pull away from the harness hole. The dealership replaced it under warranty. I've also got a squeak or two, but other than that it's good. I drive it hard through weekend twisty runs and auto-x it from time to time, but I don't launch it.
One thing to consider is the Evo is rather expensive to maintain. Even if you leave it completely stock you're still going to be out quite a bit when it comes to oil changes, brake pads, tranny oil, premium fuel, etc... it just costs a lot to keep it up.

Bought my IX MR with 3,311 miles from a Mitsubishi dealership (where I was told that the car was inspected, but whatever, at least they can't screw with my warranty if I keep it stock and don't launch), have driven 700 miles since with no problems (knock on wood).
It's stupidly cold around here and I think that's why my gas mileage (17 mpg) hasn't been as high as I've heard is possible, but I really don't care whenever I drive it. I feel a bit guilty about it now, but the attention this thing gets always puts a smile on my face, whether it be from cops or ricers (hey, as long as you don't fall to their level and race them in traffic, it's all good). The interior rattles on bumpy roads but that's expected. Transmission shifts smooth as silk (2-3 is louder than the others sometimes, but it's a nice metallic noise, not grind) and it pulls like mad when you give it the beans. My buddy got an '03 VIII a week after I got mine and I pulled 2-3 cars on him from a 2nd gear roll up to 4th gear. Tires are quite loud but it's stupid to complain considering how well they grip.
All in all, I couldn't be happier with my choice. Gas mileage aside, it's really an ideal daily driver that can hold its own against all but the very best sports cars in the world. Thank you
for bringing them stateside!

I literally have not had a single problem with my car. It made ~340 at the crank with less than 20 miles on it (although it never saw that till after a few hundred miles) and it now has just fewer than 10k. Change the oil often and try not to repeatedly launch it and chances are you’ll be fine. Just make sure to factor in the price to maintain it. People often forget to do this and end up having insufficient funds as a result.
NO!!! if it breaks then it breaks. nothing i can do about it. i have had an 8 and it broke too. no doubt theis 9 will break. that parts of playing the game. **** breaks. get used to it.
yes its been a bad day..lol

i also feel sorry for people that have had issues, i had one friend that got a brand new 05, at 6000 miles his clutch went, they wouldnt replace it so he had to, then i got another friend that bought a new 05 that has 15,000 miles on it and .50 trim kit and doing fine, i got a used 03 with about 32,000 miles on it and im doing great with mine, so i hate it when people get a bad one and then hate the cars for it, they are great fun powerful cars...i love mine
