Exclamation Seibon TSII not AERODYNAMIC?????

hey guys,

recently i just ordered a seibon tsii hood. i did some searching for more pictures of it to drool over on evom and i came across, tsii hood owners talking about how the hood flaps due to air going through the front vents.

im looking into hoodpins now but i'm wondering, does this air going through the vent, making the hood flap, make the car less aerodynamic?

ur help would be really appreciated, thanks!

Keep us posted, I am also considering this hood and that would be a definite down fall, I f you decide to go with hood pins though top secret makes some pretty sweet looking ones. I think you can find them on bulletproofautomotive.com

less aerodynamic? probably not since the air that enters the engine bay is able to escape. as for the hood shaking...its a CF hood, pretty much all of them shake or whatever since they're thin

hood pins are a good idea esp. if you see your hood shaking.

I thought that all CF hoods shook if hood pins aren't used.

I've only seen a few pictures of them but if it is less aerodynamic, its probably only a marginal increase in drag

Mine does NOT shake, i do NOT have hood pins but i DO have hood hydraulics.

swapped in the stock vent, mesh, heatshield, and windshield sprayers!

yeah not all shake..

i heard its the tsii that shakes and the ultra light ones..

but i'm worried because the TSII doesn't shake from being light, it shakes because of the air going through the front vents

how much do the ultralight ones weigh, because if I wanted to buy a carbon hood, it would have to weigh less than the factory one.

I have that same hood... if i had to do it all again for $600 plus bucks.... I'll stay away from seibon

looks good new!
looks good on the outside!

but seams are not put togther well
some of the fitment of the hoods are a hit and miss

I dynomated my top so it doesnt and didnt crack like everyone else
the hydraulic hood lifts is a plus...makes the hood a little more sturdier

I had sag (serious hood sag) with the stock hood prop

I gave the seibon hood about three and a half thumbs up, but I take away two thumbs...
Seibon needs to step their hood making game up!

Their quality is like a someone made it in their backyard...

just my 2 cents

The lightest one I know of is Robispec's, it weighs 11lbs. The Seibon hoods are HEAVIER than stock, so your not saving anything with it. Most JDM hoods are around 13-15lbs.

Maybe the dry carbon ones are lighter, but then your talkin $2000+

Hood pins should be used on any aftermarket hood, Aerocatch makes the hood pins for Top Secret, they're the same thing, and cheaper without the Top Secret name. Whooda thunk it..

seibon trunk is lighter than stock. the reason why the hood is a bit heavier, is because the stock is made entirely of aluminum(except for mesh area), and the seibon has fiberglass underbody.
