So lighten up. Sure the WRX is a beautiful work of art, but that does not give u the right to just diss one's car.
As for the movie, I enjoyed it as an entertainined movie with "cool racing". Then again I enjoy most car chase or car race movies (Cannonball Run, FnF, Ronin, etc). Sure the acting was sup-par in places, but there were tons of fine looking women, tons of hot looking rides, and surprisingly Luda actually was the better of the actors (totally unexpected).
love it or hate it (I liked the movie), it's #1

Pretty cheap, I would not pay more to see it but it was entertaining, bogus scenes and all

it is just a movie, not a documentary. You have to have a mindset of wanting entertainment, not reality. That is what I have heard most of the gripes about the sequal and the original. In movies they stretch the believable, I will watch the movie, once it is released on DVD. I will probably enjoy the action sequences, because I am a big action move buff. I have very rarely seen an action movie, w/ great or even good acting. The money and emphasis is usually placed on the action scenes. I enjoy them for what they are. I guess all the aston martin car enthusiasts are pissed at james bond, because they don't actually have cannons mounted in their hood.

Having a plant in America just goes to show how much diversity Mitsubishi has, it isn't a weakness. Honda, Nissan and Toyota do too. They build Accords, Altimas and Camrys here, and all Japanese pickups are built here too. Okay, Subaru is just a small speck of a company compared to those four, so all their cars do come from the motherland, so do a lot of Mitsus. And yes they do build the cars FOR Chrysler. Just like the Avengers and Sebrings before it. As far as quality goes, I'm not going to argue about it with someone who makes sweeping generalizations, but I love my DSM and I haven't had any problems it other then regular maintenance. Oh, whoops, I had to replace the starter, its got 63K miles.
Both the S2000 and the Spyder are "supposed" to be supercharged, centrifugal kits exist for both. The S2000 actually is, check SCC. The quick look we get under the hood of the Spyder was too quick to tell, but I don't think it was. They don't have to have FMIC's to be legit, but they can have BOV/CBV's, whether they were added later on by the sound effects team doesn't matter.
Yeah it was a big commercial, but I kind of like that. GReddy, Year One, Ralliart, NX Express may be household names to all of us, but they would virtually have to be stamped into the minds of mainstream America to be remembered after they leave the theater, so that is what they did. I guess you'd have to be involved in some form of marketing or sales to understand/appreciate that fact.
I enjoyed the movie. Much funnier then the last. I would even like to go see it again, because a few lines were missed because the full house audience laughed long enough to obscure a few lines. And there's always that one idiot in the back who yells things out at inopportune moments. Though, of course, I didn't have to pay. I thought the stunts would be too CG'd to stomach, but it happened too quick to really be a bother. The nitrous snorting Skyline at the beginning was cool, the goons driving the muscle cars were a nice touch with their snide remarks. The didn't even try to pretend that a supercharged 3G or even perhaps an EVO would be a match for a Yenko or Hemi in a straight line. The flow of the movie felt natural and compelling, and Eva is a babe. The Anime Japanese model chick was pretty cute too. Oddly enough, we didn't see much of the Opal Speedsters or MR Spyders they bought so many of, that could be seen in the semi-truck spy shots so many months ago. But the movie is so jampacked with cars I could have missed them.
I drove a blue Evo to the show and parked it with other modifed cars as part of a promotion with a local speedshop to celebrate the opening of the movie, left it there during a showing, and...thankfully nothing happened to it.

I also didn't like the whole go 80-90 in reverse scene either, but i liked the movie, the overdoin it is sometimes fun to see.
One thing that irritates me is how
advertized like it was an evo8 in 2f2f, when it was a 7! They have everyone talking about the car in the movie like its an 8 and it gets annoying sometimes *sigh* oh well.
There is an Apex Silver Evo VIII at Masano Mitsu which has most of the 2 Fast and 2 Furious graphics on it that the Evo in the movie has. They put on the decals as a promotion for the movie and are now selling it like that. It also has the front and rear strut bar among a few other accessories.
Masano Mitsu is located in Reading, PA in case anyone is interested.
