if you have the money i'd say get them this year... then you can drive your car and it's not like they are gunna go bad, just personal preference.. i'm picking up mine soon also
Not tellin you or anyone to park it. Im just telling you and everyone else that its only a matter of time before you regret driving the advans in snow. Its not a matter of will it happen, its a matter of when. Those stickers arent on the drivers door for nothing.
i'll try to save up some money, i am just in a tight spot right now. but its for sure. i already messed up that rubber piece under the front bumper, i think it's called air dam or something, i took it off, goodthing i didn't put my springs on before the snow.
I bought my evo in ohio at Medina! Thanks medina/buschur!!! And drove it back to VA last december. in the first 20 minutes of driving my new evo home i went through a blinding snowstorm hahahah....tlak about nervous ... I was going like 25mph! on the brand new advans!!!
I agree the advans suck in the snow, however I drove all last winter with them. Not the smartest thing to do but they got through the DC winter without too much nervousness. You just have to be carefull, especially when breaking.
With a proper set of tires the evo become a beast in the white stuff.

I can't believe that some people actually choose not to drive the EVO in the snow. Except for road racing, driving in the snow (with Blizzak WS-50's) is the most fun I have in it!
Im 25 now and been driving since 17. Learned to drive manual at age 17 in a 1985 Toyota Supra with stock tires. And they were balding. Drove it for 8 months and thru winter. Background info on the car. 2700 lbs. 160hp 160 tq. Positraction rear wheel drive with like 235 tires all around i think. Had 100+ lbs of rocks in the back to keep the car stable
in the snow. Didnt work too much. Hit 3 curbs. Car bounced all 3 times and didnt damage anything thanks to like 65 series tires. Almost hit a schoolbus because the car would not stop. Almost hit a garbage truck because of my lack of throttle control. Spun the car countless times. That car taught me a lot about the dynamics of cars and my personal limits as well as human reaction. We f it all up when we panick. And once you loose control, you get lucky or your unlucky unless you're a pro race driver.
My point to all this rambling was that I am a lot wiser now and use common sense and great judgement on the roads. My life is important but how do you live with knowing you killed someone or you could have avoided wrapping a 36k dollaer car because of not changing some tires you were told to change. If the Evo was my only car, I would have had winter tires before winter. Sorry for the long post but people need to see the light.

...Yea I learned the hard way about driving in the snow with the Advans. Was pulling into a parking stall at work going less than an mile, it a ice patch and slide into a parked F150. Only nipped his rear bumber, but quarter inch steel bumber on F150 'vs' plasctic taillight and rear aluminum quarter panel on EVO IX.
So to say that I wont be driving for a while due to my car being in the shop getting repaired...
..and the worst part is that the EVO is only a month old...

I don't drive mine in the snow, because of the salt, not the snow. I plan to keep the Evo for a long time and the salt won't help it last. Other folks may have similar reasons for doing the same.
One of the first days of December last year I was at a friends house when it started snowing, so I decided I should get my car home. I was rolling on my 19" SSR SP1's with KDW2's, was going 15mph on 1/4" of snow and made it about 200 feet before I slid into a curb and smashed one of my wheels and fender.
Pretty pissed I was. Had to wait 8 months to get another wheel. If it snows in your area, get snows on early and wait for the fun to fall out of the sky.

The paint isn't the main issue; it's the under-body rust. No matter how much you wash the car, it won't dislodge all the salt from the nooks and crannies under the car. I've been driving in snow for +25 years. If salt is used, nothing will help long-term short of not driving the car. In my area, many people with cars they value have Winter vehicles because of this.

Exactly why I drive my beater 95 VW in less than ideal weather conditons. Like I said before, I dont even drive my Evo in the rain for fear some jackass will skid and hit it. Plan on keeping my car damage free forever.
