Fighting a ticket?
I commend OP for choosing to fight his ticket
Most PDs are not doing enough to ensure good selection of candidates and prosper training or retraining if necessary.
It's sad that we still have to go through this neandrathal system in this day and age. (sigh - double sigh)
Here's solid proof of what I've always suspected.

Agreed, if more officers were trained correctly and knew the laws better and enforced them strictly we all would be on here on an almost daily basis crying about getting tickets for illegal exhausts. Everyone write their congressperson to urge better education for LEO's.

I fight each and every ticket I get without any hesitation. Defense cost is a non issue, principle of it is the key.
You can make light of this as you see fit but when a PO admits that he will cite you if you dare ask him why you were stopped is unacceptable to me.
Be a professional and cite becasue a crime was commited but never because a tax payer had the audacity to ask the reason why his travel was interupted.
My opinion has been stated enough on this thread I will watch from the sidelines.
Good luck to the OP on whatever you decide. I hope you decide to fight the ticket.

I suggest only fighting tickets worth fighting. Its a non-point violation pay it and go on.
Attitude SHOULD not have anything to do with if a crime was commited or not.
Any proffessional (be it a dump truck driver, FBI agent, President) that reacts to external stimuli negatively and let's it affect there conduct should do some reflection.
And you are making a big assumption, I give respect for fellow professionals especially those that serve as upholders of the law but I DO NOT cower from authority, sorry bestest.

I have no sympathy for those that reckless drive, DUI, etc, while I still implore them to use there rights under the constitution to face there accusers I hope they do some personal reflection on there desicions to committhe crime. But don't throw out the clothes with the dirty water.
Just go to court and tell the judge that you have removed the exhasut and put on the factory unit. Tell the judge that the exhasut that was on came with the car and you didnt know the difference b/c it wasnt loud.
There ya go.
There ya go.
