Detailing Stock Engine-Bay

Hi there,

I have a stock evo IX, and i would like to do some detailing in the enginebay.

For example :

- Polishing the aluminium air-hose next to the batterie.

But are there some other things that can be done to make the bay look nicer?

I mean with the stock parts that are in it now, without buying new things.
I've seen a polished topside of an intercooler, but is that possible with the stock one?

All propositions welcome

Ben

Are there any other parts that can be polished after removing the paint?

I presume the IC is black paint and underneeth there is aluminium?

I think I have seen a polished stock strut bar before, or chromed, whatever it was, it was shiny.

I was wondering about this too except I just wanted to know the safest way to clean the engine bay cause after two years it is pretty funky under there. My friend said to hit it with water and avoid the coil packs and such but that sounds shady.

Fill a spray bottle with about 2oz of Dawn and fill up with water, use with a soft 3in paintbrush to clean the engine bay and rinse with a slow stream of water from a hose. Using this method you can avoid getting excessive amounts of water in the alternator and such. I have found this to work better than any of the engine degreasers you can buy, plus its nowhere near as harmful if you should overspray onto the paint..worst it can do is remove some wax.
