Could you go into a bit more detail about the ticket and the circumstances of how it was given?

i was on the freeway at night and i feell that i was moving the speed of traffic. the cop said i was going fast and wrote me as going exactly 80mph on the 65mph zone. he said nothing about the tint and i later notice he wrote me up for that to and checked it off as not being fixable. to my knowledge though, tint is fixable right

Did he measure your tint? If he did he would put a meter thing on either side that measures how much light goes through. If he didn't measure, how does he know it's illegal? Unless you live somewhere where you cant have any tint.

it is illegal if an officer cannot atleast see what is going on inside your car. Tint on the front windows should be mainly for sunblock; Style and privacy are seccondary. However, if the officer did not measure the intensity of the tint, then it should never be able to hold up in court.
I would just change the tint on the front windows and have it tested to be leagal before i go to court (lol) just to mess with the cop. They would throw that ticket out so fast. Who knows, you may even get off your next ticket too, for him not actually clocking you, there are pace regulations. you can t just pull up behind someone, and say they were going 80mph.
Fight it!!!

check with the dmv laws in your town. I know here in ny any thing darker then 35 you will get harassed and ticketed for. But as far as you living in cali it should be different

Are you serious? I find that hard to believe. I've seen plenty of cars with tint in Cali.

Did you ever ask to see his radar gun? Any time you get caught speeding you should ask to see the radar gun. They marked not fixable, most likely because they aren't going to make you remove it, but just pay a fine on it.

Cops don't have to show you their radar gun, it's a myth that they do. Could you imagine the liability that goes along with allowing someone to get out of their car on the side of a highway and go back to a squad car to look in it. How about the risk to the officer?

I've seen plenty of people drive at 80 in a 55 zone.

It doesn't make it legal.

There are several states including California and NJ where I live that do not allow any type of window tinting on the front driver and passenger side windows .

I know they don't have to show you, but I have had plenty of speeding tickets, and more times than not they would let me see the radar gun.

I think you miss read what I posted. I was asking about the tint laws. I can't believe a place like Cali won't allow window tint on all of the windows. Of course speeding is illegal.

It was an analogy.

Just because you've seen people with tints in cali, doesn't make it legal.
