What are you basing your JDM 320hp claim on? Not the factory!

Cars are legally limited in Japan but many believe the published numbers are underated.

They aren't 'legally' limited, it is a gentleman's agreement amongst the manufacturers that AFAIK was meant to prevent 'performance-wars' and the potential associated back-lash from authorities

That is why they can underrate HP, but whilst the 320+ is a common claim the more 'usual' dyno numbers I have seen from known shops are closer to 300.

Funnily enough the manufacturers sometimes choose to interpret those agreements not too strictly - for example the official tuning arms (e.g. Nismo etc.) don't adhere to them and claim more than 280 for their cars.

And the evo certainly isn't the worst 'offender' in underrating, does anyone really believe the Skyline numbers?

Everyone is complaining about not wanting to cover all the clutches and **** and dealers denying warranty for mods. Hmm... sounds like a good reason to raise the HP.
Not going to happen! If anything there will be a Ralliart ECU but don't get it at your dealer cause then they know.
Oh and you can be sure it won't be warrantied and for off-road use only.

I have been told the same thing yesterday from the highest tech at the dealer. Evos engines are down graded by far and the EVO next year will have some extra power from ECU as he said. He is my friend so i guess i am getting it for free
