Mitsubishi to offer chip for Evolution as an option end of June
I spoke to one of Mitsubishi's 'Evolution' product associates (Advertising side)during an advertising gala in Santa Monica CA and apparently immediately after the Subaru STI hits dealer showrooms, Mitsubishi will offer a chip for the Evolution as a dealer option which will boost the vehicles horsepower close to its competitor. In fact, this news should be hitting magazines very soon. No figures are disclosed as of yet. Knowledgeable dealers will be able to comment about this new feature in a few weeks or so.

I thought I started this rumor when the STi first announce the 300hp. I called it a so called patch . I hope your theory is correct and the mothership has finally taken my advice. Warrenteed ralliart ecu "off road". I mean the car is designed for 315hp anyways and the added power shouldnt'be a problem for warrentee repair.
I only trust mothership via reputation and until he confirms this it's all a big RUMOR
Oh yeah, f1mania has a good rep. I'll just take your word for now and wait.

I'm buying it, thats all there is too it..If Mitsu sells the chip, I will own it..(and any other performance items they market WITH warranty..
See?! I TOLD you that is investing in post sale enhancements for the EVO stateside....
Why wouldn't they? It cost a bunch of cash just to bring the CAR OVER for crying out...
Plus, they have the existing technology over seas, so why NOT bring it over too!!

Hmmm. I believe it was Shiv Pathak (aka Vishnu Tuning/Performance) who first blew the whistle on the Mazda Miata engine's underperformance relative to its stated horsepower specifications. And now he has expressed reservations about the EVO engine's performance in this forum. I think that the chances that the EVO's stated horsepower will be "downrated" by Mitsubishi are far greater than the chances that Mitsubishi will provide an EPA/CARB-approved ECU horsepower enhancement.

the online mitsuinfo tech shows a spec of 271hp, probably a jdm service manual is in order to see the difference between the specs and where it lies, whether it has the same ecu but only changes in the intake or exhaust spec to attain the 300 hp? to name a few!
