Window Tint

Well i got pulled over today for having my windows to dark. wtf is with that. i was leaving my brothers basketball game and before i could even leave the parking lot a cop pulled into the middle lane and waited for me to turn on the main road. i pulled out onto the road and was immediately pulled over. bad thing about it was my mom dad and sister were in the car behind me and as soon as the lights went on my mom was calling me trying to find out what law i broke. the cop was very nervous walking up to the car. he ordered me to roll all my windows down and have us all raise our hands. my 7th grade brother was scared when the cop told us to do that so he grabbed on to my harness bar. after asking for all my info and running me through the computer system he decided to test my drivers side window with this clamp like device that measures my tint. Colorado law he told me is 27% and i failed with a 11% lol. he threatened me with a $200+ tickets ($50 per window) said i was going on a black list for "dark windows". i guess i was lucky getting off with only a warning!

its not like the guy had 20% tint on the car when the law was 27%. you can barely see that difference, but the difference between legal 27% and 11% is pretty big.

yea, its a dick move to pull somebody over for tint, but at the same time, its for the the saftey of cops.

that being said, i'm driving with 20% tint and the legal limit here is 28.

in my old car.. i think i had 15% or something.. got pulled over twice in the period of 2 years.. once i had to pay the ticket..80 bux.. the other time, it happened on the freeway.. 150 bux.. i didnt pay the full 150.. i ended up paying 50 (with the help of a friend), and keeping my tint still.. i didnt wanna take off a good quality tint, with life time warrenty...

11% tint... you're asking for trouble.

I'm not surprised the cop was nervous walking up to the car... the biggest reason for tint laws is because the driver could be holding a sawed off up to the glass waiting for the cop to approach and the cop would never know. Imagine being a cop walking up to someone you just pulled over, at night, with tint that you can't see anything through... nervous much?

I'd be afraid to walk up to your car too... be reasonable.

Or maybe that's what you wanted?

Uhm, I think he was referring to the tactics the cop used during the stop.

before the cop even got out of his car i put the drives side window down and put both hands on the dash so he could see them. then he told me to roll the rest of then down. (should have said that in fist post) also this is the way the car came. i didnt tint the windows and i was also told it was 15% but not that that matters. its not a big deal i got off easy

Some of you guys need to look at it from the law enforcements point of view. Would you want to pull over a car with tinted windows, it doesn't matter if they came from a junior high game or what. Criminals come in all ages so just because it is a junior high game that went on does it mean it cant be a teenage thug or a adult criminal there. You guys need to chill on that cops are a azz or jerk. Why don't you put your life on the line and when you get shot at then tell me any cop is a jerk for pulling and giving someone a ticket for tinted windows. I have tinted windows if I get pulled over hey that is the price you pay. Like the saying goes you got to pay to play. Yeah also my lil brother is a cop too.
