I feel your pain bro

Honestly it amazes me how young many of my Evo customers are, when i was young owning a ultra high performance vehicle (back in that day it was a Vette) was out of the question and the rates were similar

The reality is that a LOT of evos have been getting wrecked

I have had at least 20 customers with 100% wrecked evos and thinking back many customers have had accidents on the way to tuning appointments which got canceled

I have had a customer killed behind the wheel of an evo with his brother and many more seriuously injured

There is no good answer to the subject of how to insure such a vehicle in the hands of a young driver

For what its worth - my evo is fairly cheap to insure with State Farm - I am married and have no tickets and no accidents in over 10 years and its $600 every 6 months

The damm STI is a ripp off for me at $900 every six months for a slower car ! They say becuase they have a lot of theft. Go figure.

Either get rid of the car or find cheaper insurance. Unless you like buying strangers free cars.
Well, insurance is more than just the value of your car... it's for personal injury and injury to others as well... I'm sure that when a carfull of teens wrecks an evo into a carfull of eldery ladies, the insurance companies don't like paying $300,000 in insurance coverages.

I had to switch from State Farm which wanted close to $477 A MONTH to Progressive who only wants $326 a month. It still pretty high but if you factor in my age (20) and my record it makes sense. The great thing about Progressive is that I can carry a $250 comp deductible and still have, what I consider, to be a lower rate. I would definately check into them and give them serious consideration. Good luck!

I am also from Brazil.

did you by any chance put down your mods while filling out the quotes? if you did try removing them and see what happens.

i just went from geico to progressive a couple weeks ago and saved $100/month. I am 22, with clean record, living on my own and i own a IX and another car (my beater which my g/f drives now) and both cars are on my name and i pay $250/month (i payed for the beater cash and i make my own payments on the evo). i have all $100 deductables, and i have all my mods also insured (about $5000 at the moment)

$600/month is just f---ing crazy!!!!

I pay 880 a year with allstate (blanket coverage 100-300K).I guess its because i,m 50 with no tickets in 20 years and no accidents. Everyone i talk to with an evo tells me thats the best rate they have heard of on an evo. When i bought my 01 camaro SS i thought i would be paying a lot because of it being a performance car(well sort of lol) but it was 875 ayear with the same coverage as the evo. I was thinking about getting an 01 ZO6 instead of the Camaro but thought the insurance would hurt me but my broker told me it was only 25.00 more for the vette which shocked the **** out of me. BTW my 03 evo was the same as the 06IX.

I'm in CT too and I get a great rate under Geico..be sure to give them a call. Hope you can keep the evo Another thing you might want to look into is Skip Barber. I did a two day class at Lime Rock last year and not only did it improve my driving tremendously, but it also took a good chunk out of my insurance payments.

Not all companies are like this, but most are going toward this approach that since it is not your fault you should not be penalized.

Also alot of insurance companies marketing department have not caught onto what we have AWD/Turbo. They look more at the standpoint that it is a 4 door vehicle. Therefore they think that it is not a sports car
I'm an Insurance agent for a big Company, not Allstate, State farm, Progressive, Geico or AIG but, Insurance companies actually know what type of vehicle they are quoting. In our system every car, truck, SUV or van has a symbol assign to them and they go from 1 to 27. Symbols are calculate base on different factors, performance, cost, safety record, accidents...etc., Just to give an example a Corvette is symbol 22, Z06 is symbol 24, for an EVO is symbol 26, from 22 to 27 on the performance level is consider SUPER HIGH PERFORMANCE, so if you think that they don't know because it has 4 doors, 4 cylinders...etc, they actually know and that is not why some of us are paying less. They consider different factors in which also affects your price as well, tickets, accidents, level of education, single or married, renter or homeowner, worst if you say that you are living with parents (don't ask me why but, makes no sense) good student...etc, also what state, city and county you live in makes a big difference!!!

Im 18, in CT with AllState. I make enough money to pay the $600 a month but Id rather put it into something that's going to last me a longer time.

If anyone can help me out plz do, if not, i might have to stop driving it

I pay 70 dollars a month for full coverage on my evo 9 mr. I'm 25 and I have clean driving record so that probably helped out. In addition, where I live we have 9 months of intensive snow and black ice conditions so insurance in my area is generally alot higher than other areas.

shop around...if you have AAA go to their website and use the companies they recommend for good member rates...that and if you need to buy a beater car and list it as your primary driver and the Evo as a "weekend" car...plus you will get a multiple car discount...

and I pay $114 a month with Progressive...but I did the odo reading discount, have 1 ticket still on my record, 24yrs old, no accidents (knock on wood), two suspensions for failure to pay fine (I just plum forgot the court date); this year however I am turning 25 and getting married next May so it should get lower soon here
