Might have to let the evo go :(

Hey guys,

My insurance is asking 600$ a month to insure my GG IX MR, I used to pay $240 when it was just on my moms name...I really dont want to be paying that much for insurance, do you guys think I can get better rates with a different company or in a different part of the country? Im 18, in CT with AllState. I make enough money to pay the $600 a month but Id rather put it into something that's going to last me a longer time.

If anyone can help me out plz do, if not, i might have to stop driving it

I don't know how it is now, but allstate used to rape me for insurance cause I was young. I switched to AIG and it dropped in half. It was awhile ago but it would pay to shop around for some quotes.

I had the same problem when i was young. Progressive was the best rate for me at that age. I also had a few accidents (none my fault) they were awesome to work with and they delt with the other peopes insurence to get me more money for my car and repairs.

$600 per month is like you're buying the insurance company a free Evo. Look at it this way - at $600 a month after 4 years, you'll have spent $28,800 with insurance. That's literally enough money to buy a brand new Evo. What your insurance company's numbers show them is that there is a _100% chance_ your car will be a total loss within the next 4 years. Either get rid of the car or find cheaper insurance. Unless you like buying strangers free cars.

I had the same issue when I was young. Check Progressive and especially AIG.

try geico...i would be with them but my agent for progressive (drive ins. actually) is in an office right near me so its convenient cus i change policies and cars pretty often..so im willing to pay a few extra bucks...but geicos quotes are considerably lower than many others..almost too low, so make sure to speak to someone in person or over the phone and get all the fine print. gl

Holly crap man. How old are you? 8? That's pretty bad. Try asking your insurance company what your rate would be if you owned a second car .. a daily beater; and tell them that you only drive the Evo on rare occasion. It might be overall cheaper. I feel for you man. I really do. I hope it works out for you.

tomorrow Im gonna drive to AIG, and Progressive and see what they can do for me. Im not a stupid driver or anything and my record is clean so far, I do have to go to court in Feb for a charge Im pleading not guilty for. Does Geico do everything over the phone?

forgot to mention, its $600 to insure me as a driver on MY MOMS policy, if I do it by myself they want to charge a little over $1000 a month. if I cant find a good price im gonna start crying...I love my car
