My dad had an old SSI Bonneville that color. 1993 I think. When you hear "purple car" you think Barney the gay *** dinosaur purple.
This was the coolest purple ever, just like on the Evo.
When its dark or overcast outside, the color tends to be a very light silver color, with a small purple hue. When its bright, the color really shines through with a rich dark purple. I think it was called "safety purple" or something like that on the Pontiac.
Anyway. I think its sweet.

As you noted, the color changes under varying lighting conditions... it's pretty hard to reproduce it.
