i have a 03 evo and when im high reving in the highway at 4th gear and around 5000 rpm and **** it to 5 i here a grind or a squeak. im not sure if i need to replace my shifter bushing or flush my tranny oil. i had the clutch replace at 24000 mile and i have about 54000 mile right now . or should i just go to the dealer .

 

Not sure, but Im guessing the motor mounts are the same from the 8 to the 9. My buddy with a stock 9 was saying that it was being weird in the same situation you describe. He got a stiffer front motor mount(maybe tranny?) and he said it's a lot better

 

Its a problem with the something in the transmission fitting incorrectly in '03's, mine does it too, if you still have warrenty and can prove the problem to mitsubishi without ever setting your car on a race track or illegal speeds on the highway they will replace it, but when would you ever need your sports car to engage into 5th gear cleanly? Something with the main spline or some technical **** in the tranny, get a shep tranny it will go away.
