D2S vs D2R

D2S vs D2R
I just bought a pair of 5800K bulbs for my evo, and I know it's supposed to be D2S bulbs, but somehow when I was checking out on the web site it had D2R bulbs, same price and everything. I wrote e-mail to the site saying not to confuse and send me D2S bulbs, but then just started wondering what was the difference between them.
Does anyone know if d2R will work on Evo and why or why not?

HID headlights must have some way to keep the light from blinding oncoming drivers so they have a light cutoff, either in the headlight housing or in the bulb itself
one is designed to be used in headlight housings where the the light cutoff is built in to the housing, the other is designed to be retrofited into headlight housings which were not designed for HID & have no light cutoff built in. so it is built into the bulb instead
