It also can be done by injecting fuel into the exhaust manifold. This is basically done to keep your turbine spinning fast when you are off the throttle, so when you get back on the throttle there is no lag. Like stated twice above....don't do this unless you can buy unlimited turbos. Rally teams prolly replace the turbo every race.
