My Timeslip ..
Went to the track today and first off I would like to say - DAMMMM I suck!!! Any tips on how to improve my time is truely appreciated? Also, power shifting - should I or shouldn't I? Hopefully, this is the right section for me to post this.

holy ****, did you just pull out / no launch ?
hehe .. then miss 2nd
j/k
Seems like you have owned some kick *** super fast cars. What seems to be the problem with the EVO ?
2nd look thought the slip said 14.72 not 14.27. Just didn't launch at 5K ?

One run
. You have to launch turbo charged cars. It's not like a mustang feathering out at 1500rpms. You need to be at 5000rpms or higher without lifting the gas and releasing the clutch at an appropiate speed. 1.7-1.8 60ft then you'll see the potential of your car.
Problem is keeping boost. When I drag, I try to hold the gas all the time to keep boost between the shifts. Well good luck next time and try speed shifting or powershifting once you get your launch down.

Don't feel too bad.
Actually, your time would complete the trifecta!
I went a couple of weeks ago to Great Lakes, and saw another Evo running for their first time, too. Both of us ended up running the same times as you, 14.2xxx. And your traps are right on the money w/ ours.
Seems like a Great Lakes Dragaway, first timers with the Evo curse!
I couldn't launch the car, either. And I was a previous GSX owner. Wonder if it's the track? The car would either bog off the line when launched @ 4-5K, or would just spin the tires if launched @ 5k w/ boost or >5.5k. Next time I'll play around w/ the air pressure.
I am confident that I can reach mid 13's, though. My 60' times were just like yours. Had a full tank of gas, and had low miles on the engine. If you can crack 1.9s 60' times, you'll already be in the high 13's.
See you there sometime.

I ran only 2 runs and my first one was a 13.46. @ 98mph.. i launched at 6000rpm roughly.... 1.8XX for my '60....... I ran my car all the way up to 7800rpm (shutoff basically) which actually slowed it down some..
I personally feel that running to about 7500rpm in 1st gear is worth doing, but then 6900 or so in 2nd and 3rd = good time slip.
Decent launch, proper shifting and 1/2 or less tank of gas should = 13.3 or better.

Yeah, I got about 3/4 tank of gas, no power shifting, and I believe my highest launch was around 4500 or maybe 5000. I ran a total of 4x and all 4x I bogged off the line. I'll definitely go again before anything is done to this car. The car on the right was an old school mustang, loud as ****. Thanks for some of the tips, though.
O ya.... I am pretty sure that going at like a ***** and bogging is probably way worse on your drivetrain than just going for it at some decent rpm like a man.
seriously.... dropping it at 4000rpm is probably brutal on everything.... 6000rpm and the tires spin a little...way less brutal.

man....i have a evo 7 and when i first timed i did a 14.1@96mph...so it's nothing.
but i used to launch at 3500-4000rpms and when i shifted i would come off the gas, make the gear change, then come completely off the clutch before stepping back on the gas.
as time went on i improved and it made a difference.the car ran a 13.8@100mph.
all i did was change gears better...and launch harder(at around 5300rpm) and slip the clutch.
after mods like 20psi boost/apexi safc/complete exhaust/cone filter..it now runs a 12.9@105mph
