EvoM Trip To Japan!
Well this summer I'm going to Japan to visit my GF. She lives Totori and do you guys know which major tuner shop is in Totori? Garage Trial baby. That's going to be the first place I'm going to visit.
By the way if you guy want to travel to Japan, try using the travel agency name IACE they always have good deals going to Japan.

Thats what im talking about. Do you have any contact info on that shop email hopefully. See if they can setup something a meet anything just to get something going.
I look IACE up.
If you guys do plan on going, just PM me and I can give you the #'s to the girl that always help me out when I go to Japan. The last time I was there, I was in Osaka (Kansai) Yeah HKS Kansai is there but I didn't have the chance to go. Osaka is cheaper then Tokyo but not by much. Beside HKS Kansai there isn't any other major tuners there. But all of the major tuners are dispersed through out Japan. You can just go to one location and expect to see a whole bunch of them. Garage Trial is in Totori, HKS Kansai is in Osaka and they're about 4hr train ride. But the train can get expensive and if you don't where you're going. You're SOL because THEY DON'T SPEAK ENGLISH OVER THERE!
But I'm just saving up my money so I can purchase the goods over there, cause some of the shops over here charge you an arm, a leg plus your left nut if you want some of JDM products.

You mean in Osaka? There's a Mitsubishi factory/wharehouse right across from Osaka aquarium.
Man, Yesterday, I had an awesome 2 page reply to this post but I closed the page by accident and it got deleted. Sigh. I won't be going myself because I'll be in Thailand this April and I'm not stopping this year in Japan.
At any rate, I recommended IACE in my post and it looks like someone else beat me to it.

They do speak english but will usually answer the phone in japanese. Just ask them to speak english. I used IACE the first time I went and I got round trip tickets for $700 apiece. That was in jan '03 though. If you have a choice on airlines, if at all possible, try to fly on ANA. They have great service, serve japanese food on the flight, and even have super nintendos built into every seat. Great experience, I always fly ANA. All my japanese friends recommended it to me.
When I went, I had the best time with cars in the countryside. Got to drive a new MR2 spyder hardtop which was owned by a close friend of the designer of the MR2. Also drove a SiR prelude. Got to ride in a Nissan Pulsar GTI, fully gutted with turbo upgrade and carbon fiber hood. Also got to ride in a HEAVILY modified R32 skyline which is hands down, the fastest car I have ever ridden in. Insane. Tokyo is an awesome place to visit but don't expect a great car scene.
Also, near mount fuji, in the Gotenba area, is a phenominal Go-Kart Track. We're talking, Formula 1 drivers go there to have fun. has those red and white checkered flat curbs which you can drive up on in a pinch. Those karts haveto get up in the 40-60mph range. They are crazy fast. I want to go there again so bad.
Also, if you're looking to save cash, stay in Ryokans. Ryokans are traditional japanese hotels. That usually equates to Cheap. Last time, my wife and I stayed at Hotel New Koyo near Ueno. (Ueno is the junction point from the narita airport express and the tokyo metro lines. Super convinient place to stay) It was like $25 a night, per person. Its more of a backpackers hotel, but I had a good experience there. http://www.newkoyo.com/ One of the guys who works there is really fluent in english.
I'll be back with some more Japan trip tips.

Hey, Ive always wanted to go to Tokyo Japan, or Japan in General, so I had the idea, why dont we get a bunch of EvoM members, buy a bunch of plane tickets and all go on an adventurous trip to japan, check out the racing and teh drifting scene. Check out the evo scene
Also backpack around Japan, Check out the scenery, have some fun.. Im sure it would be an awsome trip!
Most of these thigns im POSITIVE we could get a nice discount if theres about 20 of us!
Im sure if enough of us bought tickets we could get discounts on airfare, and same with hotel costs.
plus we could buy gangster JDM parts over there for cheap as hell and ship them back
So whos with me on the idea of going to japan for a week or liek 10 days?
Also anyone who currently lives in Japan be willing to show us around, if this trip were to happen? show us the car scene, and the beautiful scenery?
For those worried about timing and everything, how does first week or 2 of summer sound? Maybe last week of May Throu first week of June?, Or any time from Beg. Of May - End Of July, Post your avalibility and we can work out times, because I would love for lots of ppl to be able to go, but I do know everyone has a schedual
Pleanty of time for planning. And as long as theres about 20 of us, give or take.. im sure we could get nice group discounts on food, hotels, and airfare!!
Tonight ill have a nice ballpark figure for all these things:
Airplane Ticket's
Car Rental's (Or minivans
lol)
Hotel
Cost of food
And Cost of entertainment!
Most of these thigns im POSITIVE we could get a nice discount if theres about 20 of us!
I also had the idea of, We could all make EvoM T-Shirts, And meet up and stay at a hotel a day before we fly to japan, and meet and greet each other for a day, then fly out to Japan all together!
From what I understand LAX could be one of the cheapest places to fly out of, so maybe we all fly there, meet up n leave the next day all together!

Without doing any research and going with my intuition (I know people in Japan and have relatives in Korea, which is practically identical to Japan), cost should be at least 2-3k
Course, don't quote me on this since i do not have any sound proof or anything

There's lots of places around Tokyo... It's the main area... They're not easy to get into though, you usually have to know a local... You can find alot of "underground street" stuff going on there to though... I was lucky that my wife's aunt lived there and she was a JN (Japanese National), so I had an in...

Ok I'm down for this trip. Are you making a list of people interested in going to Japan? Put me down. I've been wanting to go to Japan for the longest time, if you are going in the summer I'm down for it. Also try Perx.com for some discounts on airfare.
