snow run with advans, dont do it!!!
Mitsu's an idiot for putting that tire on a car in the north. They should realize that they are part of the reason why our insurance is so high because id definitely say that a lot of the accidents with Evos are from people losing control of them in the rain and especially in the snow/ice. Granted, a lot of them are probably not perfectly either, but im sure that a good pair of all seasons stock in the north would be worth it... Then we'd all get summer tires eventually and realize the difference

I like how mitsu released the car with summer tires. If you think about it getting a set of dedicated snow tires and another set of dedicated summer tires is pretty cost efficient for the performance/safety you get in return.
I have 26k miles on my evo and my snow tires are hardly showing any wear and I still have another season left on the advans. Having 2 sets of tires isn't as expensive as it first seems because they will last twice as long.
Also I believe mitsu did this as a marketing thing to stay competitive, if they put on crappy all season tires the review for the car would be slightly worse.
This is pretty much true for all Ultra High Performance Summer tires to Extreme Summer tires not just the Stock Advans.
BTW the stock tires work pretty well in the rain. You just have to use good judgement. My friend seems to think just because the car is awd it going to perform better in the rain than a non awd car. Couldn't be more wrong.
It's all about the tires. For summer/street dry conditions the stock advans are about the best you can get. If it's snowing It's best to have all seasons or better is Winter Sport Tires.
I'm running Hankook W300 Icebears and they are incredible for the money. The size i'm running are 225/45/17. Compared to my old RT-615 {245/45/17} the W300's are better in the dry and wet.
I'm glad no damge was done to your car.

I just got home from work. Started snowing a couple of hours before I left. Had no choice but to drive in it. Who ever said you can take the advans in the snow "just gotta be carfull" is full of crap. I lost it going 15mph no gas no brake just slid sidways down the street until it felt like stopping on its own. thank God no one else was on the road. it would of been the slowest accident on record. next time I'll just stay for some over time at work.
