Buying Evo
Don’t be totally afraid of buying used. I personally purchased a used evo from an individual. I would be very hesitant to buy one from a dealer. If you buy from an individual it is much easier to get an idea how the car was taken care of. I purchased my 2003 with 9,955 miles and the car still smelled new. The guy kept it in a garage most of its life. It was very easy to tell he took care of the car. He had receipts for every time he took it to the dealer for anything. Just keep an open mind about things and use some common sense.
Don't buy used
I'm the exact opposite I won't buy new and take a loss the second I drive off the lot. We all drive our cars hard.....there is a difference between a car that has been to strip 100x, or 20 min. roadcourse sessions, but other than that we all get on it run it to redline etc.
Just look the car over, check for leaks, any transmission grinding or lockout, take it to redline, does the A/C etc work, brake wear and call it a day. Good luck

is this the one at toyota in smithtown?
Found an evo VIII at a dealership, 23k on the clock, 2004 EB. What should I be looking for before purchasing. Currently from their pic i see grounding wires running from the motor. Also, the front bumper has been modified, where the two slits run across the front (above the mouth, and below the diamond). The person pretty much cut those out, have no idea why but should I be worried?
Any help would be appreciated.
