I just dun understand Lexus .... while S4 , M3 , C63 keeps it much more low key than the notyetsupercar fast IS500 , luckily they limited the production to under a thousand ...

The lack of headroom is the big killer. It becomes a major issue when you're 6'1" tall, drive with a proper upright position, and have to wear a helmet! I wish you could get the HID's separately. I guess the new SE package takes care of that.

If driving the car on the track is such a big issue, then why do you need HIDs on the track? i track my ssl gsr and it's fine.

I keep getting the urge to dump my '03 for an IX, but it keeps getting better with age. I do ~45 miles of suburban stoplight driving a day to-and-from work. I always get at least 320 miles. 2 fillups ago, I got 354 miles out of a tank, and it certainly wasn't babied that week, as I was lucky enough to recieve a ticket for doing 71 in a 35.

My '03 has no more clearcoat and the Brembos look like sucked on M&M's, it's been 56k furious miles, and I fucking love it.

Nope. Only engine "mod" I have is the HKS foam drop-in filter, which probably should be thrown away. I think I have 20k miles on it.

That's a big, fat +1.

I'm an M.D. / Ph.D. in my 30's. Back in 2003, I was cross shopping the BMW E46 M3, Porsche 996 Carrera 2, WRX STi, and Evo VIII. I went with the Evo because it was the most fun to drive and had the best chassis and steering feel. It was simply the most thrilling to drive. I got addicted to that "hyperactive" feeling Evos are famous for.

All the other guys in the doctor's parking lot might make fun of my choice. I think they're nuts for settling for their Mercedes E55 AMG's and BMW E60 M5's.

Anyway, it's stupid for people to assume that we only drive Evos because they're cheap to buy. Some of us just love rally reps in general and Evos in particular. I'd take an Evo VI--TME, Lancia Delta HF Integrale Evo II, or Ford Escort RS Cosworth over a Ferrari or Porsche any day.

Even those of us who track our cars still do 99% of our driving on the street. For a dedicated track car, I agree that HID is not only useless, but also unwanted (they're considerably heavier than regular headlights). For a street car that also spends time on the track, HID's are VERY nice. And Evo HID's are some of the best I've ever experienced.

In my case, I already have a dedicated track car (a BMW) with cage and everything. The Evo is my daily driver that also sees some track use. In that situation, the HID's are very nice to have; the sunroof, leather seats, and subwoofer are not.

I agree that the M3 and 335i are great cars, and while the e46 will always be a favorite of mine.. I think its time is done! Its way to slow compared to the compeition. I looked seriously at the z4 m coupe which is a faster machine then the M3 using the same classic engine, but that was just way to overpriced at 65K.. the 335i is a great car, and all bmws handle but dont kid yourself to much, it doesnt have sports car handling.

There is only one car that you can compare to the evo as far as a due everything performance machine goes and thats the vette.. but in the vettes case you have the addition of exotic looks and raw power. With the exception of exhaust products, all the engine components I need to make close to 500na rwhp are available through GM and look stock! plus you have the z06 part bin plus the new 100,000 blue devils parts that will all just bolt right on for upgrades.

I dont know why anyone would have sold the evo VIII for an evo IX unless they just like throwing money away.. you could have easily swapped and converted everything plus add tons of aftermarket parts for the same hit you would take in trading in the car.. and then the evo X looks like it will be a huge sucess as well.

Those aren't for fog lights, they are part of your air dam. It supposedly functional.
It helps direct air to keep your intercooler cool.

I wouldn't go with a ix. I'd go with a vette if i had to upgrade the evo.
If not a vette then prob a X.. !!
