Turning up the wick GT35R

Long story short.... My tuner would not do a race gas tune for me on my car so I was told that if I want to dump the race gas in myself I would probably turn the boost up to around 26-28psi..... I have 4 gallons of C16 that I purchased for the tune sitting in my garage... I am almost out of my normal 93 so I was thinking of putting the C16 in. I have a wideband but I am not logging anything. Would it be just plain stupid to dump in the c16 and turn it up to 26psi? The tuner would not do it because I am on the stock clutch.... I don't really care about the clutch I just want to see what the car will do on Race gas. Any suggestions would be great.... I want to do it but I do not feel I have the correct tools to do so.

Thanks

Yes. I think it would not be wise........and kind of pointless. Are you wanting to use this race gas to just drive around on the street?

C16 is kinda like Methanol, you need more fuel...so you might go lean.

I just want to use it becasue I have it. I bought it for the tune the tuner would not use it and I was told if I want to do it I can. He was affraid the stock clutch would not like the extra power.... I know it probably won't like the power. I just want to see what the car feels like at 26psi. I also do not want to break anything because I do not have the proper tools to see what is going on.

Im pretty sure you will be ok if you 4gal of c16 and 4 gal of 93. That would leave you 104 oct. Keep your eye on the wide band. I would try and keep the AFR under 12. I ran 110 Leaded and ran 25 psi on my stock IX. It was fine no problems.

What psi were you tuned for? Use the c16 or grab some 100 and slowly put the boost up. I don't know how many miles are on the clutch or how long it would hold but many pour some higher octane in the tank and turn the boost up a few lbs. Raise it a lb or two and go from there.

I was tuned for 21-22 psi on 93. Kyle the only problem I see is this is NOT a stock sized turbo.

It is the opposite when you add c16. When you run a higher octane gas you need to lean the car out more. I have run 110oct in my car and I watched my AFR get richer on my WB.

it is completely safe to run 26 psi on c16. The only thing though is that it won't make all the power that it should because the timing isn't advanced enough for the fuel and also it will most likely run really rich so the car will need to be leaned out. As far as the clutch I don't think it will hold much at 26psi. Oh and another thing get the Evoscan so you can log your car and you can see what it is doing as you turn the boost up.

Yah... I understand it will not make 100% of the power but I would just like to get an idea what 26psi might feel like. I know the stock clutch also won't like it much.... but might not be that bad since it is laggy. It would be fun to see what happens..

yea ur fine gradually go up in boost till u hit 26, also keep and eye on boost oil pressure, and wideband, deffently watch wideband on full throttle. 26 psi is kind of boarder line for being untune, i run 30 tuned so just becarful, it might also break up around redline too

I don't understand why he wouldn't tune you with the stock clutch. Was your clutch slipping? I know someone that is running 500+hp with he AMS GT35 on the stock clutch and doesn't have a problem. Granted he doesn't launch the car because if he did the clutch would be toast. How much power did you put down on the tune he gave you?

I lauched the car maybe 4 times in it's entire life. The clutch is in A+ condition. He was affraid of the clutch slipping and then causing more slippage on low boost due to damage from hi boost. So basically they didn't want to do it..... So I guess I have to do it or pay $400 to get it done somewhere else.

Wow really, I heard that from a guy who is a Carb Guru. So if your tuned on lets say 500HP on 93 octane and then switch to C16 it will run fat? Sounds backwards but I may be wrong.

I still dont see why you want to see what kind of power you can make, knowing the stock clutch won't let you.... It'll be a waste, and you obviously don't really know or have the tools to do so.

Mind Boggling.
