Don't think i'm some old fuddy duddy, cause i'm only 27... i guess i just keep the speed off the streets, at least not on the ones with any kind of traffic...
Trust me I am not bragging....You think I like speeding tickets?....I do find it quite amusing though that there are still people out there that think that the police issuing speeding tickets is somehow contributing to road safety.......get in the real world man...It's all about the MONEY...that's why insurance companies buy nice new shiny laser guns for the police departments as gifts these days.....Just something to post.....It beats "how many times do you wash?"

Laser protection my ***, I had V1 and then switched to Passpower 8500, regardless, in Maryland, you're screwed either way. It would warn me about Laser when the cop was at my door writing me up a ticket: "ooh ooh, some pig with laser is pointing at you....withing the last 10 mins..."
This Laser Echo thing doesn't look bad, i was originally going to invest in this laser thing that is basically a license plate holder, but had laser spoofing technology built in, basically regardless where the laser was aimed, this little bugger would protect me. I can't find the site, but I was going to buy one last month, but then I got a ticket...

First day i had it i got pulled over

there was a silver wrx following so i had to go

He saw both of us driving fast in the oncoming lane and then signaled us to pull over.

He didnt get a chance to clock us so no ticket or warning

The funny thing is he called another officer and they started talking about what kind of car it was for like 10 minutes.

He finally asked what kind it was which i thought was funny as hell, the cops around here in central ohio are in-breds, stupid as hell

oh well

i toasted the wrx and didnt get a ticket

and didnt go past 4500 rpms! i love my evo!

Zero tickets in my EVO in 3800 miles.Having a Lightning Yellow car doesn't make things any easier thats for darn sure!

First, I can also say that my Valentine has saved me time and time again. That and driving defensively by learning how to profile police cars, knowing when and where cops are likely to be(over rises, look for brake lights, check on ramps as you pass, etc...), and being selective on where and when to let her rip. This takes great restraint, but is worth it in the long run.

As far as laser goes, the only way a laser can be used is from a fixed position. Overpasses are a likely candidate location...again know potential trap locations and use good judgement. Probably the worst threats comes from instant-on K, or Ka band, and the sneak-up from behind tactic. This is where the Valentine shines with its high sensitivity, and directional indicator and bogey counter.

I tell you the most funny thing is the look on the cops face as he gives me the steely eye as I pass by doing 5 mph under the speedlimit. Makes me feel a little guilty.....not!!!

I recently had two SUV's pass me doing about 85 in a 70 zone. I was cruising at 65 knowing there was a speed trap ahead.I told my wife "someones about to get a ticket!". The cop lets em slide right on by, even though his radar was gunning away at full strength!!!

Its like he knows someone is going fast, but hey all he really sees is the EVO, so it must be the bright yellow race car.....no... guess not, he is actually being passed by the other guys. Hmmm... the equipment must be acting-up. I need to keep an eye out for that yellow car though. Why does he always smile and wave?

I told my wife that if it had been me tooling along at 75 I would have been on the shoulder getting a ticket. This is why using a detector makes sense.....get a Valentine and know you have the best!

0 so far, I'm waiting on my V1 to come in before I start "enjoying" my Evo consistently so that I at least have decent odds...Not that I don't enjoy regular everday law abiding driving

Thats part of the challenge of driving a brightly colored, high profile car. Anyone can drive an SUV fast, and get away with it!

Zero. I'm 48 and never get within 5 mph of the limit just to be safe. I live in VA where detectors and jammers are illegal so I never bought one.

Now for the rest of the story:

I have been successful thus far by a combination of luck and a little common sense. I don't habitually speed but here in Northern VA, the flow is typically at least 10 mph over and I have been known to spend a fair bit of time overtaking other vehicles (purely for my own safety). Here are a few techniques that seem to help avoid getting nabbed:

Never camp out in the left lane longer than required to safely overtake another vehicle.

Don't dart in and out making "aggressive" maneuvers that will draw attention to you from drivers behind or around you. Cellphone reports from irritated drivers will also get you caught.

Let someone who is in more of a hurry than you run the gauntlet first and far enough ahead of you to provide early warning. Peferably someone with a detector.

Visually scan the road ahead (way ahead) for telltales such as brake lights at the same point in the roarway ahead.

Analyze what the 18 wheelers are doing. They communicate well with each other and if they are going for it that generally indicates that the road ahead is clear (at least at that moment).

Don't push your luck thinking that you can sustain this pace for too long without getting caught.

I don't do it if I cannot employ at least some of these techniques. Even then there is always the risk of detection over which you will have absolutely no control.

Lastly, if you are going to do it, drive safely and within the limitations of your ability, and never do it if you are not prepared to get caught and pay the penalty .

That's racial profiling.

Or were you refering to the color of the cars?
