Moving the seat 23 nches back? Anyone?
Yea im 6'5", and i have to "roll" rather than heal toe. On the street I have the seat all the way back, and the steering wheel all the way up, and i have plenty of room. When im on the track i actually move the seat up few inches so my wrists are able to rest on top of the steering wheel...Unless you have freakishly long monkey arms, moving the seat back 2-3 inches will actually HURT YOU on the track.
If you need a little more room under the wheel, you should try to the brackets that jid2 made. I have them and LOVE them. They lower the seat about 1.5", and make a world of difference. Besides giving you more room under the steering wheel, they also give you more headroom when wearing a helmet.

You can try to cheat by adding a gas pedal plate to your existing gas pedal. It makes toe heel shifting more like left right foot/right right foot shifting. The steering wheel position can be adjusted up too to avoid your knee bump too.
I guess that why the car companies invented SMG.

I think moving it few inches back(few inches just to be safe,im sure adjusting between 1-2 inches will be enough) will only improve it, couse for my arms to be in the right position i can always adjust the angle of the back on the seat. Few inches will only put my lower body in better position and my upper body can stay the same, right? Correct me if im wrong.
And any kind of new brackets will lower it too because stock brackets are raisng the seat.
As for jid2 brackets , maybe somethink like that but a little extended will work.

. Believe me, the lowering brackets make a world of difference.
I agree on lowering the seat will make a huge difference. My spec miata has the race seat bolted directly on the floor, and no problem toe/heel shift there, not to mention the helmet clearance is much better. Instead of pushing the seat back I do agree lowering is a better idea.

I just tried your theory of tilting the seat more upright to get closer to the steering wheel. Unless you have lowering brackets you WILL hit your head on the ceiling w/ the seat almost straight up. I hit my head when the seat was straight up, and that was WITH the lowering brackets. Stop trying to re invent the wheel, and take the advice from people who are not only taller than you, but also have a TON more seat time in an evo (going on 4 years here)

Thaaaanks
I guess most of us are trying to say is:
Moving the seat back, other than changing the mounting position or go with a different seat, could probably ruin the structure integrity of the seat. That's why I think it's not normally done, and no one has them because afterall, it's a pretty odd sizing issue and no one can make money on it to manufacture this part.
I think most of us are offering you a workaround because the inavailable of the bolt on part, and definitely not critizing your driving position or driving habits. Just trying to save you a few bucks and make it safe. Take care.
