Regreting the SSL package
If you want to lose the weight, here is some tips you can do and its free!!!. Take out your spare tires, take out your Jack in the car and the rug and board that is i your trunk. That right there should be 20lbs? and get a mini batt kit that right there should be like 10-15lbs? AutoX a lot then you prob can just take out your rear seats, you can put i back on wheneva you want too. DONE!!!!!! you got yourself like about 50-60lbs saving. be happy wth SSL its all comfort man. i wouldnt lose it for the world.
definitely correct, i road raced mine against other evos and i am still the fastest of that group. the extra weight in not that big of a deal, and the great thing about the sunroof, i can sit in it with my helmet on with no problems with the roof open.

Thanks for all the responses...it seems like I'm a whining a bit...damn it, let me get some cheese.
I suppose the grass is always greener on the other side. I'm not an awsome driver but I did put other more power and better prepped cars to shame in my old WRX with minimal mods, and I want to improve my driving skills with the Evo. One guy posted that his next car will be an RS and I agree...have a slightly more comfy car for the road and then an all out race car.
I can always spend the $2,000+ and the carbon fibre roof

This car is already overwieght I wouldn't get SSL for "comfort" for the sacrafice of performance. That's what a STI is for. No matter what the evo will be a bouncy, noisey and rattling econo looking car.
I wouldn't trade my SSL for anything. I love leather seats and would have ended up putting a sub in the back anyway. I do wish the sub had a little bit more a punch though. I also love the feeling of opening the sunroof on a nice day while going out on a drive.
i had a GSR SSL for 2 years almost, now i have RS .
Let me put it this way : Night and day....
if you want good handling and raw performance sharp turning car: RS
if you like more DD car then SSL, MR or SE.
for handling the RS is the best from the Evo line.

I'm in the same boat... I wish I hadn't spent the extra 3 grand for the SSL package because in the long run when I sell the car I'll never get any of that back. I already see regular GSR's and SSL cars selling for the same price which sucks from a financial stand point but I do admit the SSL package sold me on the car. After deciding to buy the EVO I almost couldn't justify spending 30K + for such a econo looking interior. The SSL package does add somewhat of more refined if you want to go that far as calling it refined, look to the interior. I would have liked not to have the crappy "upgraded" stereo and the sunroof but I did want the HID's and the leather so I guess you got to pay to play... As to the sunroof not making a big difference comments I've been hearing is totally false! Most likely made from assuming or guessing or I "heard" it doesn't make that much of a difference... I've driven many a EVO and I feel a huge difference in body flex w/ sunroof cars... I really hate how much the sunroof effects the handling and screws up the roof line, the non sunroof cars are much better looking. If I had to do it again though I think I would have not gone the SSL route simply for the financial return but that's just my .02's

lose some weight?
