So....GSC S1's or Helix 272's????

I am looking for some cams for my setup.

I currently run an Evo 8 with the following mods:

AEM Intake
Boost Controller
10.5 ported hotside
Buschur O2 housing
3" Buschur Turboback Exhaust
Precision 880's
Perrin Fuel Rail

I plan to use the stock turbo for now, max it out, and then possibly go to the FP Evo Green 20G. So what are the best cams for my setup?

Oh BTW, Grouppe-S has the Helix 272 cams, gears, and a Walboro for $499 shipped right now thats why I am wondering!??

Thanks for any and all help!
Anthony

GSC S1's. Even if the price on the Helix cams is cheap, you'll regret not getting the S1's down the road.

If helix cams are your only choice then go with them, they're other brand out there HKS, Buddy Club, Brian Crower, GSC, try doing some search about them.

I'd like to see some info as well. The only thing that makes me keep coming back to thinking about Helix's is the fact that their V2 cams are hollow core like the stockers.

Not really.....I just would like factual evidence showing whether the Helix's are worth even buying or if the GSC's are worth buying.

hollow cores don't buy you much, so little in fact you probably can't even measure it. It's a marketing gimick, just like the stockers, and just like the tt RX-7's had hollow fiber carpet for their floormats.

Think about it, how close to the center of rotation is a hollow core camshaft? Do the math, and it's plain to see the only gains you'll see will be on paper.

You won't get any factual information for the Helix cams because there is none out there. On the other hand, you will find tons of good information on any of GSC's cams; and that is why people buy them.

I would never buy cams that haven't been tested.

Now this is just hear say...but I hear a fellow evo memeber who had the Helix gears....they eventually wore down to a sharper tip and cut through his timing belt. I did not see it....but just ears and talk through the evo grapevine.

I can not comment on the cams though...cause I don't know.
