I'm suprised to see that CR included our cars in the Fun To Drive list, yet they complain about the harsh ride of the evo.

From what I know, harsh ride doesnt equate to fun. But i still love my evo, no matter how "harsh" is the ride.

 

They are mostly old fogies puttering around in new cars. That may be a gross overexxaggeration, but it has it's elements of truth. I don't call the ride harsh, I call it firm.

I just dunno why they used the word harsh when firm should do.

Fastest on a track doesn't necessarily equal fun to drive. I have more fun driving my Mazda6 Wagon than my Evo around town and on the highway. Why? The limits of the evo are so high it's just plain dangerous and more than illegal to really have fun in it. The limits of the Mazda are much easier to approach at very close to legal limits.

 

in that sense almost everything is fun to drive... just like my wife stage 2 Jeep ..

 

i know this may "open a can of worms," but people really need to redefine the term "sports car." a MX-5 is not more sporty than an evo, i don't care how many doors or seats it has.

 

honestly though, the sports cars list is on my list too. Even though the MX5 is not the fastest car on any list, i used to sell mazdas, and i made sure every day i went to lunch i would take either a Speed Miata, or an rx8.. the miata was a drift queen and always wanted to throw the rear end out... (actually lots of fun to drive around) the 8 was the same... NOT FAST, but comfortable to go around bends without fears of wrecking. the S2000 is by means one of the more exciting convertibles, and i havent driven the 911 yet but every other car on the list i drove.

Love my evo... but its kinda like a lunch box with wheels...

 

for me everything is made to perform, is a sports car, doesn't matter how it is looks.as long as it does her purpose... If it's just looks like it, that is a toy.
first clear out the definition of sport... then if we agree what you doing that is a sport, then any car you use to do that, qualifyed to call it as a sport car.Because you use it for sport. And so many different autosports out there, where is the "sports car" class don't fit at all.

for me the factory miata is a toy. The STI is a sport car.Period.

 

Fun to drive, not necessarily fun to own.

I'm pretty consistent in liking the exact opposite that CR likes. LOL.
