Why is the resale value of the XEDE so terrible?

I think this is the most logical reason.

Also, Shiv hasn't been on much because off all the BMW R& D hes doing. It doesnt mean hes gonna leave the EVO world, as he mentioned he just tuned two evos and a suby the other day. But yes online forum time, is down, compared to what it used to be.

I tossed the Xede because the evo IX upgrade pricing was ridiculous and you had to flash it anyway for the MIVEC maps. Another reason is that Vishnu gave an impression of lost interest, and moved on to other car makes most recent being the BMW 335. He does not seem to stay very long under one platform.

If I had an 8, I'd probably still use an Xede because you can get them dirt cheap these days and they are actually pretty neat units. I sold mine for a measly $300 about 1/2 year ago.

I've got to take up for Shiv here. Yes, they are developing things for other cars and Shiv isn't on here as much as he was in the past but, it's not like they just up and left everyone with no support. Your statement makes it sound like they screwed everyone.

If they've been slow to develop things I think it's been because of their knowledge of their impending split with Exede and they figured they would just wait to launch the Procede for new models.

Great post! I know I could call Shiv, or Dustin, and get my question answered pronto, they have always been there for me! It is just that I don't trust myself with my investment of parts, to tweak the maps, however easy it may be. I am dumb as a box of rocks as far as computers go. If I trusted myself, I might mess with it. But with the newer stuff, more bells and whistles, might be worth looking into other things to make me go fast! Will let you know what obscure piece I pick up.

Thanks.

I'm being helpful this week on EvoM as opposed to stirring sh*t up. I'm stirring **** up on the BMW forum this week. I'm going to alternate from week to week.

i have recently tuned with xede with andrew from dyno4mance, and i am not 100% completely satisfied. it has thrown p300 codes, and im having a lot of misfire issues, which i did not before it (i am aware that our ECUs have an upgrade for that code, but why did i never have it before the xede?)

the tune is fine, it's not what i expected. i had dynoflash before, and it felt like the car was much faster... i had more mid-range power, and now i have more high end. i know that is supposed to be better, but it just takes a while for it to get up there.

Also remember that the Xede is a piece of electronics. It's not obsolete, but look at the price of ANY two year old piece technical doodad --> less than half. The perception of newer and better things (even if they're not actually better) drives down the price. A 2 year old TV set isn't significantly worse than a brand new one, but check out the prices on craigslist or ebay.

Yes, I dropped the Xede also due to not having the support I required. It still has neat features, and flexibility. However, ECUflash worked out better for my needs. I'm still trying to let mine go too...
