Cool Visited the Subie dealer today...

I stopped by the local Subaru dealer today to inquire about the STi's (I have a friend who's a big Subie fan, was trying to get some info for him).
I rolled up in my Evo, and the dealership came to a stop. Salesmen, about 4 of em came out and started asking me all about it. A minute later, 3 service techs came out (they had coveralls on).
All in all, I never got that answer i was wanting. Everyone there was too engrossed by the Evo!!!!

LoL! Same thing happened to me when I went to the HONDA dealership to pick up an S2K antenna from a friend of mine that works there, and once I parked the Evo, 4 techs came out, a salesman and a customer just started eye balling the car.

Anyway, got the part that I wanted and bounced out up in the quickness!

several the guys at the porsche dealer down the street from my local mitsu dealer apparently asked for and got taken on test-drives in the evo. talked to one of them, and he was damned impressed, said they don't have a car on the lot with better handling.. more speed maybe, but not better handling

i somehow had 2-3 guys checking out my Evo at the Mitsu dealer (not the one where i bought it though) when I was trying (long story) to buy a oil filter.

Also took the Evo to subaru dealer....no one saw it until I was ready to leave (with no new information on the STI..of course none were in stock)..... when I was pulling out they spotted it and pointed....too bad.

Every Evo owner is a celebrity right now...

When I stopped by the Audi dealership to pick up a TT antenna I had the usual flock of mechanics come check out the car.

...actually the car is the celebrity, I'm just the groupie that people talk to.

Not to high jack your thread, but what is with you guys buying different antennas? Are you all taking the stock one off and replacing them?

Not to burst any bubbles or anything...but did you think that maybe some of the attention the Evo gets is negative? The Evo's a great enthusiast car but not everyones' an enthusiast. Heck, even a lot of car enthusiast think the Evo is uglier than crap. I can see why they feel this way...a lot of the asthetics on the car is overly exaggerated. Heck, throw on some decals and I'll guarantee your average commuter will think the Evo is no different than the "riced" out car next to him.

I know the Evo turns a lot of heads but how many of them actually admire the car remains suspect. I really have my heart set on two cars (STi or Evo) but I'm not too fond of exterior designs. A few years back I thought they were the most goddy looking cars w/ great performance, and had all the desire in the world to get one. Now, they just look goddy. But you can't find a car out there with the pricetag to match all the performance these cars offer. Maybe if they had something out there that was more subdued looking with the same performance (i.e. turboed motor, AWD, etc.). Anyways, I look at it like hell I won't see the exterior of the car while I'm driving.

All my 'encounters' so far have been very positive. Even people that I work with that know nothing about cars seem to really like it. I don't care if they like it because it's an awesome performance car or if they like it because it looks 'cool'. Actually, I don't care if anyone likes it at all, I like it! I do know it draws a crowd everywhere I go.

Buy an Evo, remove the wing, change the taillights to Evo VII lights and there you have it: all the performance and none of the "gaudy" look.

This was actually my plan, but to tell you the truth, the wing is starting to grow on me.

the sti is listed at 30,995 MSRP. I thought it'd be higher....I guess that is EVO competition talkin'.
