I watched the vid again and you are right, you can definately see the speed if you look at the road. The first time I watched it, it looked slow because I was paying more attention to the movements inside the car (what the driver was doing), than to the road flying by; and also like ries said: "Trying to duck" to see if I could get a better view, hahaha!!!

Talon, the mini-mic is at the end of a short wire that branches off the same wire that goes to the bullet cam, and it's only a foot or two, so I can't relocate it anywhere. You're right that it would sound badass if it were isolated near the exhaust or engine. Just the way it is now is way better sound than when I mount the cam on my back deck, which is nothing but wind noise.

Update:
Here's a vid of the only car that had a faster lap, the Whitis Noble M400 who ran the 2006 Tire Rack Cannonball One Lap:

The full version is worth downloading so that you get a better look and see him shoot flames on the shift:

Wow, your BOV makes a cool sound! How can I get mine to sound like that? joke
Mounting the camera anywhere below your eye line on the helmet with a slight downward angle (just like your eyes looking out and down at the track) will probably give the best view.

Yeah, I'll be experimenting with putting it on my jawline next time. I can't do it at eye level due to there being no material to attach it to, but the jawline might work.
