Nausea in my new EVO ? No joke.....

My White Evo 3 days old, I'm not sure why but I'm getting Nausea in the car. The car has 205 Miles on it I'm not sure what could be causing it ? I think it might be all the crap thay put in the car when thay detail it ? or maybe I'm Burning off some kind of under coating or oil ? or maybe there is a small exhaust leak ? who knows but its not been fun.

No flaming here please, Anyone else have some thing like this happening ??

Man that sucks! Have you talked to your dealer about it at all? Maybe they can run some tests on the car's emissions or ventilation system? Does it only happen when the windows are closed? When does the problem occur the most?

I'm not sure what the hell it could be ? If we ever get any sun up here in New York ? I will roll down the windows and open the roof and let the sun bake the car first to see if any of that junk that was put in the car to make it look and smell good is doing it ? Who knows ???

Same thing here, particularly bad right after the purchase (for the first week or two). In my case, I get motion sick very easily. That wide-view front window was totally screwing me up. On a long, easy, highway drive I had no problems. But when I would power through the curves on the tree-lined, mountain road leading to my house, I'd be sick as a dog. Honestly. My wife has the same problem, even worse in fact if she's riding as a passenger. She really doesn't like the car much simply because of that big-*** front window. The view out that thing is amazing...once you get used to it.

Maybe the same thing is happening for you? I would feel quite dizzy and faint sometimes after a spirited run down that road. Much like motion sickness. It eventually went away as I guess I finally got used to the view. But man, I seriously reconsidered my purchase that first week. I thought I'd never be able to drive that car.

Odd, huh? I didn't post because I assumed I was the only one. I did post about the huge front window, though, because that's one of the first things I noticed on it.

My wife is convinced that the turbos make her sick...... She's particularly sensitive but of course, I can't possibly see what could a turbo do to make anybody sick. I think she just gets queasy because of the acceleration

There is a good bit of paint and other substances that will burn off over time. You might be sensitive to the outgassing. It is also very possible that the quickness and flat handling of the car will induce some kind of motion sickness.

Also, I did get some kind og weird visual effects at first, specially early in the morning. I thought there was something wrong with me until I read twdorris' post..... The shape & size of the windshield (perhaps the quality of the glass??) might take some getting used to. Also, I noticed that my windshield has some waviness or distorsion in some areas, not too noticeable but ver easy to see if you look for them.

Good luck with it, I hope you solve the problem,

Manuel

get a small CO sensor/alarm and put it in the car, then run it for a while. Can never be too cautious with possible carbon monoxide.

Thanks for all the good input guys........

Weired as I never get car sick, I have driven and Co-driven in some pretty nutty rally cars and never feel bad....

I have to take a real good look at every thing mentioned above.

I'd guess you're smelling the undercoating burning off your exhaust. Also you probably have all that new plastic out-gassing.

My car was bad that way for about a week, then things got better. Oh, after the 600 mi. point I took my car for a long drive with windows open (about 2 hours) to clear AC system, too.

At 2500 miles all those funny smells are gone and the car is great

I had the same problem and had to call the dealer to check that out. They apologized for not warning me at the time of delivery and advised me that it is caused by some kind of a coating they spray to protect the car from the elements when being shipped. It was supposed to burnout within 100 miles or so. It did in my case.

There are lots of things that are burning off in the first few weeks, months. And on the interior, the plastics are letting out all kinds of nasty and harmful chemicals into the air....but all new cars do this....To your nose it's detected as the "new car" smell...

I'm sure that,if you are sensitive, the chemicals seeping out of the plastics can make you feel sick.....but don't worry too much. After a few hot days in the sun (and esp if you keep your windows open), most of the nastiest stuff will evaporate.
