it really does sound like you lost coolant over time and just overheated your engine/froze the block. . .the coolant hose problem was a recall for 2005's, came out when i got my car, and it was the first thing I had replaced. . .check and see based on your VIN if the recall was done for you. . .in either case, it sounds like you'll need a new block

Yeah even if you were going 80 and misshifted into third you'd be okay.

Sorry to hear that bro...I know it sucks...good luck.

Thats why before you buy a used car have a PPI (Pre Purchase Inspection) done, you may be out 150-200 dollars rather than
5000.00 - 10,000.00

why don't you drop your car off at the mitsu dealer? they can tell you exactly what happened to it. i believe they can go into the ecu and check where the rpm's were before the motor let loose. that way you don't have to play the guessing game.

wow... you shoulda wrecked the car when that thing started to
happen so you dont have to worry lol j/k

but seriously you should take them to the dealership
and find out. we all can guess what happened but you wont
find out what really happenned to your car if you dont get them checked.

I wouldnt take it to the dealer. Half of them wont know what there looking at. Since its an 05 I presume you still have warranty and that will just give them a reason to void your warranty because I your mods, I have seen it done. I would take it to a good shop that is known to work on evos or specializes in evo's. Just buy a stock short block if you dont plan to ever go over 500hp, that would be the cheapest way. Dealer will tell you need like a whole new engine bay

yeah i was thinking the same thing. plus i'd have to get the car towed over to the dealership again, and for them to tell me that my warranty is void bc of mods is a waste of time and money. Luckily for me there's a shop around the block who does engine builds and specializes on turbocharged cars. So i'm in the process of ordering a new shortblock, and once it arrives i'm going to have them install it. I just have to make sure at the same time that my turbo etc. didnt get damaged.

why not do this. Put your car back to stock with your local shop and ASAP. Then take it to the dealership and tell them the engine blew up on you and that you want it warranteed. Its definitely worth a shot man.

Remove your mods, delete all mods you posted in this thread, and take the car to the dealer. Mitsubishi WILL SEARCH EVOM for your post and your mods if they are looking into warranty work on your car. If they void your warranty, drop me a PM. I have an arbitration case against Mitsu for the same situation and I may be able to help. As soon as my case is final I will be posting up my documentation and results.

Good luck.
