wat does the dsm final drive do for the car?

and i was at 8300 off the rev limiter in my car, but that was on DR lol. so i was around 180ish i believe.

kinda newbie of a question, but how do you go about calculating the tire diameter to be 25.33 again? Figure for instance my situation, 275/45/17 tyre on a 17x9 38 offset wheel.

Good to see he got the car back together, i talked to him a little over a week ago up at devo tuning he was bringing a bunch of parts up there for the car

Not to go off topic but the shearer kit on that car is a fine piece of work

EVO's 1 thru 3 used a DSM style tranny. An Evo 8 tranny is geared similar to the DSM ratio, but the early EVO's have a shorter final drive than a DSM. This is great for the 1/4 mile in an Evo that has a built motor and a large turbo with cams to take advantage of high rpms. This sucks for a mile because 4th and 5th gear aren't as close ratios on the early EVO's. Because of the short final drive they put a taller 5th gear which sucks for high speed acceleration with such a huge rpm loss when shifting from 4th to 5th.

The calculator is within this horsepower calculator web site. It's one to save in your favorites.
