Depends - luckily I have a shop that knows me by name and that I trust 100%... there are no young guys working there, all older guys that couldn't possibly care less what an Evo is and are honest to the core. No problem leaving it with them.

Other people - always a little sketched.

If I take it anywhere to have minor work done (tires, inspection, etc...), I set the boost to wastegate pressure.

I have a few trusted people I let drive my car and don't even mind if they beat on it a little. I know I'm way harder on my car then they will be.

I valet every week at the same spot and the same valet guy parks it every single time. He has a STi himself, so he knows how to handle my car and I know he doesn't do anything to it, because they always put it right out front with all the other nice cars, so he only drives it like 20 feet max.

I was a valet for 4 years but before that worked at a dealership. 90% of places that will have your car for an extended period of time WILL drive your car especially if its a manual. The stuff in ferris bueller does happen and did happen quite often when I worked those jobs. It happens most often at parties, weddings, celebartions where they know they will have you car for 4 hours at at time. Also if you dont know what the mileage is you'll never know the was gone. The coordination was so good that if you were to leave the party early and wants you car back, we would radio the person who had the car and tell them to retrieve it and it would be back promptly without you ever even noticing. If you don't know these things happen, you are either naive or inexperienced.

used to be a valet back in high school and I have to admit that I took a select few cars out for a "test" tune. Being that I did that what's stopping the next guy from doing it to my car, hypocritical I know. I never get my car valet parked and the wouldn't really let anyone drive my car unless it's my g/f who would never beat on the car and a select few of my close friends

Someone needs to come up with a way to have 2 modes that can easily be switched between so that when the car gets dropped off they can't get on it.

I've thought about this as well. Another thing I wondered after buying my car was how those first 12 miles were driven on the odometer before I purchased it. People always talk about "Break-In" period and not beating the car....well how do you think the salesman impresses the guys who interested in a sports car? I'm sure it got a couple of hard runs on it before me. I would neve valet my car and I've always stayed with my cars for minor maintenance whenever possible.

Well, they do probably drive it off the assembly line, and onto and off of transporters etc. They don't pick up the new car off it's wheels and carry it everywhere it goes, haha.

You just change your map settings in ECUFlash and flash it to the ECU. Flash back to your stock map when you pick it up.

Yeah....wish they could though. When I was younger I used to think if you bought a new car that is was all wrapped in plastic and it had "0" miles on it....haha. I was like 10 or so......lol

As long as the shop is very reputable, I dont feel uncomfortable leaving my car there to get fixed.

That would require carrying a laptop around with you all the time wouldn't it?

And I thought I was the only paranoid Evo owner out there.
I know its only a car, but i guess it all stems from knowing how hard I work to be able to afford the car in the first place...and the fact that it's my favourite toy.

I'm even warming to the idea of letting the missus drive it someday...(supervised of corse)

Yes...I have a problem!!!
