Does anyone on here feel comfortable leaving their Evo?

I DON"T!!!

Every car I have had I didn't want other people driving, especially at shops. I went to get an alignment the other day and I parked directly in front of the bay with the lift, backed the car in too. The guy doing the alignment had the nerve to take my car for a spin around the building, he got on it in the short space he had. Can you imagine what happens when you aren't around?

Does anyone else have a story or proof of shops driving your car too much or too hard?

kind OT but can openecu control rev or speed limit in case I had to take my car to a shop for a few days?

As long as it's a good shop I really don't mind. I had a few crazy cars before my evo like my turbo B16A 92' civic hatch and my 95 GSX I just didn't want them to get stolen nevermind somebody driving them around.

Serves him right, but if he didn't get a ticket no one would ever know. Probably wasn't his first time either, just first time he got caught.

How about those of us with MBCs. What is some genius decides to up the boost? I hate to bring up all these scenerios, but I am sure I am not the only one thinking about these things.

You're not the only one. I was thinking about getting my windows tinted, but I don't wanna leave the car + keys at a place where they don't even know how to drive the cars they're working on. Nobody has driven my car since I got it except my brother and father for a total of maybe 20 miles. I got it with 13 miles and it now has 3,1xx

I took my car to a shop to get my summer tires on the other day... the guy raised the car and one of the arms on the lift went into the bottom of my sideskirt....

Honestly I can't believe there are people who can screw up this kind of thing... anyway he ended up doing the tires for free which was nice...

I was staying at a fancy hotel in Portland and had to give my keys to the valet to park my car in the "Private" garage. I of course switch to the B trip odometer and reset it then switch back to A. I then watch the guy pull around the corner and ask the other valet guys where he was going. They said the main garage was full so they had to take it a block up the road. So I head up to my hotel room and open up the windows and guess what I could hear. Oh yeah, my car, in all its catless glory. The bad part was not only could I hear it, but I could see it racing down the street at what looked about 60+ mph. The guy was just romping on it.

So I went down to the Hotel manager and had a little chat about the situation. I dont know if the guy lost his job but I got my $700 a night hotel room for free When I got the car back a different valet pulled the car up and held his hand out for a tip. I looked in the car and checked the odom and found he put on 12 miles. So I slapped the guy on the hand and told him his tip was all used up in the joy ride from the other guy.

Does this **** me off? Initially it did, but at the end of the day its just a car. And I know I would have one hell of a time resisting giving an Evo a little gas if I had never driven one before.

I traded my brother one weekend because I needed to borrow his truck. I Always garage the evo but his garage is full of junk so he parked it on the street. The Evo came back with a big dent in the rear from a drunk driver that took out almost every car on his block. It could of been much worse though. The funny thing is now my brother wants to buy a evo.

It's annoying to meet so many people who want to drive my Evo. I've been sandbagging a guy at work who has been pushing to test drive my car at lunch. I want to be nice but at the same time I'm thinking my car is not some carnival ride. He should go to the dealer for a test drive! I just worry about the clutch on these cars since they are very easy to smoke.

I had a similar thing happen to the OP at an alignment shop. They had to drive it around the block to see if the aligment was ok, but the guy nailed it going out of the parking lot and around the corner. That kind of stuff pisses me off but all you can do is try to limit the opportunites. I never valet my cars and def would not let anyone that is not a good friend and I know can drive test drive my car.

Also to answer the 2nd part of the OP. Yes you can lower the rev limit very easily with Ecuflash, you can also adjust the boost and boost cut. My cousin used to do this with his decked out wrx with his access port. Valet mode I think set the rev limit to like 4000 and boost to wastegate.

Dealers are for test drives - not other people's personal vehicles.

I've got 3 people who I'll let drive my car other than myself. One is my mechanic, another is my father, and the last is a friend. All three I feel are respectful enough to not beat it.

I'm the same way - I get antsy when anyone drives my car. I never leave it overnight at a shop, never EVER valet it, and pretty much insist (when possible) that I'm onsite for any work done to it...

Hell, I get antsy when my dad drives my car....
