Another thing about vallets. When I was in High School my first job was as a vallet, I didnt know how to drive a clutch very well back then. So every time a car with a manual would come in my supervisor would put the car off to the side and have me park it waaaay out back after the owners were gone. When I quit that job I was much better with a clutch (thanks to smoking more than one 5.0 clutch)

When I take my evo to a shop, if I cant stay with it I reset the top speed reached setting on my turbo timer and I reset my trip meter that way I can hit them with how far they went and how fast they went. But I dont have to do that very often because I try to only go to shops that I have a good history with.

I HATE taking the evo anywhere except for a couple trusted shops. Because anytime I'd pull up to anywhere else, all the shady-*** dudes in the bay come out and give my car the "i want to rape you" look.

I left my evo to get the windows tinted today... i knew they would take it for a ride.

But just my luck... last night I got a nail in a tire.. so I had to bring it in on the donut...

From now on.. if i have to have something done where I'm not comfortable leaving it thinking they will take it for an unnecessary spin.. (alarm.. body shop.. something like that..)

The donut is going back on..
Hell of a lot cheaper than a dual boost controller.

I just got my PA state inspection done over the weekend.

I walked up to the counter gave them my papers and was like "does the tech drive my car for inspection?"

"Yes."

I said "okay I will go with the tech when they drive my car."

The tech still drove like an a$$hole and rode my clutch.

Bottom line... try your best to go along with ANYONE who MUST drive your evo.

This was not some young kid at the local tire shop who drove my car either.

if its not going in for something mechanically wrong i used to flash my wrx to a map with a 2500 rev limit. my evo is going to get the same treatment if it ever has to go in.

its like driving an oversized go kart.

about 5 miles... I went 35 at most.. I know where the bumps are.. and they have just re-paved half the town..

I had the real tire in my other car.. went and had it fixed.. and when they were done tinting.. i took the spare off and drove off..

It's a big deterrent to the person who wanted to beat on it.. everyone.. including myself.. are scared s***less of spares... i have never babied a car so much in my life..

^ just avoid driving, on your donut, as it can destroy the drive-line with the quickness

Why would anyone need to drive your car for an inspection?

most of the reputable shops if they go out for test drives they will wait until you are at the shop or they will inform you they will take out the car for an extended period
ie when they do re-stroke kit..etc... to ensure the car is in optimal shape before giving it back to you.

anyhow, its all about trust , and for those that violate the trust will essentially be sought out and talked about .
