I've always like the M-serious bimmers, but after owning an Evo I would never trade it for a BMW. It's less expensive to maintain, better performance, less expensive to mod, and also holds my family.

tranny is probably 5k, just guessing.... everything is probably double...

the non-hidden costs what kills. i got the evo for 32, but i've spent probably 3000 on maintnence maybe more..... i didnt realize a clutch is 1500 then another 500 to put it in... rotors are 500, pads are 250.... the m3 is probably double...
What clutch are you putting in that costs $1500?

You are making a switch from one performace car to another for what? to get away from cops and tickets?? I don't think this would be a good move at all. I would get a Scion if you don't want cops to give you hassle. I am not joking. I've owned E46 M3 modified and I truley loved every thing about that car. It's very tempting to own a performance car and not utilize it's capeablitlies when sitting behind the wheels. . You can't just sit in a room and not do anything with a naked girl standing infront of you would you? Thank God for radar detector which saved my *** so many times. You really need to see for yourself what you want to do..

But the m3 will get more. It's a fact. And you can never have enough.

Don't need a car to get ***** . I could drive a pinto and get *****. I would stick with the evo. BMW stands for Break My Wallet. Lets face it, this kid would probably mod it, then you are talking big bucks. maintanence is a ***** in BMW's

It is really a personal opinion. Insurance on both is going to be expensive. If your mods are only going to be Dinan Chip and Intake then I would go with the M3 especially since Dinan stuff does not void the M3 warranty. It is really up to you. I have always loved the M3 and almost got one, but I love my Evo and am happy with my choice. If you want a comfortable daily driver and don't plan on having a highly modified car running super car numbers then go with the M3. Just my .02
