Why is the stock turbo with an open element filter soooo much louder than a 30r or bigger turbo with the same intake?

I drove my friends 05 evo with stock turbo and injen intake and holy crap is it loud...

thanks for posting the pics. I just noticed that my DV is NOT installed the say way. The metal piece (well mine is plastic) was facing upwards instead of sideways.

That must be causing the fluttering then. Should the metal piece on top of the DV be facing upwards or sideways pointing to the left?

Now I'm really confused... I too have this flutter when coming off acceleration. The flutter started right after the installation of the Buschur intake and Jester flash. Last night I checked to see what the DV was. I located it and noted that it was the all metal one. I'm also sure that it was never touch my me. Is it possible that it was installed incorrectly from the factory. Forgive my ignorance here. It's finally warming up enough for me to start tracking down this little anoying glitch.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,
Charlie
