Stock DV and Buschur Intake

I just installed my new Buschur Racing intake on my evo ix. Loaded my new flash from Jestre Tuning and off i went. Now i know you are supposed to hear your DV a lot more with an intake, but is it really that loud? It's so loud that it sounds like my friends SSQ BOV while i only have the stocker. It also flutters a lot. Is this normal? i have a feeling this is just an installation issue or possibly just normal.

Thanks to Buschur Racing for excellent customer service and fast shipping.
Thanks to Jestre Tuning as well for super fast service and excellent customer service.

Yup, it will be quite loud with an open element intake. There's no box for all of the sound to get trapped in! Did you get the intake pipe as well? That make it loud too, since the sound waves will be hitting a metal pipe instead of a rubber one...

The DV Flutter is going to depend on the amount of boost you are running. Or maybe you just got one that sucks and does not want to stay shut.

Typically they will hold boost to about 20/21 psi or so, but they do leak much sooner in most cases.

Upgrade to a Forge DV or the FORGE RS.

Its hooked up backwords.....The stock DV hardly need any pressure to open. It's not the DV making that noise its compressor surge that sounds like that.

Yes the sound being louder is normal. The Evo 9 valve should not flutter. We run this on our BR350 Evo 9's without any issue. The Forge valves we were using with the BR350 Evo 9 were fluttering and the oem valve did not have that problem. I am not sure why it should be fluttering. We normally run around 21psi on those cars but have had people run 24ish without an issue. Id check to make sure it was put back in correctly if you took it out.

Glad you are happy with your purchase and the service you recieved from us.

correct diveter position

A lot of people never realize this, but on the stock DV there is a little arrow symbol on the side of the opening end that should be facing down. I noticed on my old 8 DV that there was some white paint in the same area designating that point. Look for this arrow as shown in my picture comparison. I hope this helps.

If it is a very noticable fluttering and you feel a jerking feeling when it does, most likely you have it on backwards as I did when I first had my car. It should be a smooth almost whiplash sound upon release. However, if you are in a high gear like 5th and driving at a low RPM and then release the gas after pushing on it a bit for boost, you might hear a bit of a flutter.

That fluttering should only happen in low boost/cruising applications. You need to get that checked out and if your IX came with a plastic DV then you need to swap it for a metal one. Did you buy the IX used?

The side port goes to the intake and the botom port goes to the UICP. As stated a low boost on and off the gas situation could result in a slight flutter with the Metal DV.

It should not allway flutter or buck when letting off the gas or shifting this would be an indication that it was installed backwards

If you have the IX you should have the metal DV or BOV. and regarding the fluttering in low RPMs im pretty sure its a compressor surge.
