idk, i was kidding... my friends car knocks less on 87 than his does on 91...

doesnt make any sense, but if thats what he's saying...

we do have 93 octane here, so its better than the few states that use 91.

so there you go.....
So you base your comments to this guy off a very unintelligent test that you and your friend performed on his car?

How about the thread on here where a guy ended up with 87 due to the full service required in NJ and proceeded to blow his motor right away, because he didn't know the difference.

ya i base my comment off an intelligent test because it was logged many times, so go screw urself on that one captain.

and about the guy whose motor failed was probably tuned for 93, never saw that thread. I dont sit on here 20 hours a day like you do and read every thread.

If you could start PMing me everyday with important threads that i shouldnt miss that would be fantastic. I'm not the forum pro that you are.

When I first got a turbo car I fell asleep at the pump and accidentally put in 87 octane. I crawled around out of boost for a little while, but I'm paranoid so I hand pumped most of the fuel back out and refilled with 93. Simple.

The owner's manual states that using regular is OK for a short time in an emergency. I'd follow the advice of others and just take it easy and top off the tank whenever practical.

I don't know about 87 octane, but here in Bangladesh all we get is 89 octane, and so far I have not experienced any hesitation, fuel cut, or drastic boost taper. I know I may be sitting on a time bomb, but its been around 14K miles of mostly spirited driving, with lots of WOT runs, and the car is still running fine. All stock except an hks catback.

I've gptten used to checking because like Jersey an attendant has to pump your gas here in Oregon I've never had it happen to my Evo but when I had my GSX Eclipse a dumbass put regular in and it ran like crap for the entire tank even after adding three bottles of octance boost which I made the station give me for free

I tried to siphon the gas but the Eclipse had a screen down in the tube not allowing you to. Not sure if the Evo is the same way

Do you have any idea why some states use 91?
In CA everyone buys Luxury cars with higher compression now which require the highest octane (to get higher rating HP). This demand makes it impossible to produce enough 92+ Octane with the stocks available... Wait a few more years and CA will probably only have enough stocks for 90 Octane Too many yuppies with IS350s, BMWs who never ever drive em hard, but waste our precious 91 to "putt" around.

You're saying CA doesn't have 92 because they can't produce enough??? How about up here in Oregon where you can't get better than 92? I don't think there's nearly the amount of luxury cars up here in hippie land. You made that up didn't you

Yeah, fling baseless insults all you want, but the bottom line is that it was stupid for your friend to do WOT pulls on 87oct, which means it was _not_ an "intelligent" test. It just means he was VERY lucky, and it is extremely dangerous and irresponsible for you to go around telling people it's ok to do this.
