i think my 3rd gears done :(

from a start i can shift into second pretty fast but when i go into third it seems like i have to wait like 1.5-2 sec's. ill rev second gear to like 3-4k and then i have to wait a second after i engae the clutch for the motor to wind down so i can shift. if not i can fell the gear grind a little. i bought my car from a previous owner and it has a ACT street clutch on it. mabey this is why i have to wait to shift, im not really sure. also could this be that i need a lighter fly wheel so i can shift into the next gear faster.

p.s. does anyone know how much$$$ it would be to replace 3rd gear syncro on average?

Both of you probably need to adjust the clutch rod out a little bit.

It makes no sense to have a weak, single disk organic clutch with a setup like that, cssaddictm4.

I understand that I made an error in choosing the clutch for my particular setup. If I ever have to replace it I will be sure to go with at least an Exedy twin disc. Also, I tried adjusting the clutch rod to where it was (I marked it with a sharpie) and I didnt see any improvement. 1st, 2nd, 5th, 6th and reverse are fine! Just 3rd and 4th are trouble gears. Thanks Warr. Blake

Kevin Knight, your 3rd gear synchro is F'ed. It costs around 800 to get the tranny rebuilt. Might as well do the whole thing and not just one synchro.

Just curious cause that A. Robinson was selling an evo just like yours recently and I thought it might have been that one since it has the same mods and hes from maryland. He seems to always be buying and selling evo's! As a matter of fact, heres the link to his car he sold.....looks a lot like yours!

If you still have warranty? take off all your mods and get it serviced.

Adjust the clutch first see if that helps - go to www.evomoto.com / tech for quick fix.

If you lost a syncro...you are going to have to take to tranny apart anyway...do the other sycros, bearings etc..( anything else with wear) while your at it..
