1. do a tranny fluid change
2. raise the clutch pedal travel
3. if 1 and 2 failed, chances are your synchro is bad.

as far as I know reverse doesn't have syncros...just a straight cut gear

just shift into first then reverse is all

There is a reverse synchro. But yeah, 1st , then reverse is what I have to do to make it smooth.

well, my evo does that, but only because i thought i had a 6th gear twice -.- hahahhahahaha, but yeah, like someone else posted, just put it into 1st and then reverse, or just take your foot off the clutch and try putting it in reverse again.

Well make sure you're at a full stop before doing this.. that sound that it makes can be urking.

If you feel it doesn't want to engage? raise your foot off the clutch a bit and you'll feel it just slip in before the clutch is full disengaged.

^^^^ Got the same problem.

If you can't get it in the gear, lift up your foot slightly off the clutch, and try to put it then. The car will start moving slowly and it will get in wihout grinding

Same problem sometimes as well. I just release the clutch press it back in and it works.

You gotta lift the little black thingy under the shift knob first before you throw it
into R...(does not stand for RACE)

When the tranny isn't warmed up yet, mine has problems as well. I'm used to this from my DSM's though. All you have to do is put it in 3rd, then 4th, then 5th, and then it should slide into reverse just fine!
