Damn stock cat bolts!

I did get the downpipe to cat bolts out though! just those other two are just welded on there(at least thats how it feels to me). I got a cutting wheel and attached it to my corded drill, tried to cut it and it takes forever. I might have to get a grinder instead. Anyone ever use one to get bolts/nuts off? What grinder do you suggest I get. I know a lot of you will say to just go to a muffler shop but I'm so pissed at these rusted nuts that I'm determined to get them off.

yeah the breaker bar works wonders but u need to get the car up high enough so u can have room underneath to break them

I should have done that(wasn't thinking). Car was on Rhino ramps. Time to put it on jackstands. As far as the nuts go, I stripped them a little bit already so I'm afraid if I use the breaker bar it will strip it even more

well let the car cool down, then get a flame and heat the bolts. This makes them expand a little off the threads and may be easier to get off.

This recipe works wonders, I used it Friday night while installing my AMS TBE.

Oh forgot to tell ya I used lots of PB blast, wd40 and seafoam deep creep. Applied it a day before I went to tackle it. Did the heating technique with the torch too and no success . SInce the nuts are stripped a bit is there a socket that can remove stripped nuts?

rtfl

just use lots of wd-40... or just try to loosen the bolt itself rather than trying to loosen the nut... it can be a b!t<h, but you'll appreciate your long hard work in the end...

having the same issue removing stock rusted bolts but i now have the adapter/extension for the gun so hopefully it should come off fairly easy. Now to think of it theres one bolt on top the gun won't reach, dp to cat .. guess i will try a mallet w/ socket wrench on that one
