Hey guys well i took my wing back off a couple of days ago and noticed two spots where it appears rust is starting to show through. They arent big but rust gets bigger. I called the dealership and they said that they would have to take a look at it take pictures and send it to mitsu does this sound like a warrenty issue? i mean i would hope so its an 05 with 19k on it. Has anyone else had any of the same problems and if so have they got it warrentied??

 

YUPERSSSSSSSSSS!!!!! im actually repairing mine right now. they said they would not warrente it because the rust is not through. bull ****. so im fixing it myself and im actually almost done. only problems im having is the paint i got doesnt match 100% and also when wet sanding it, its very very easy to go through the existing paint so be carefull if u do it.

MITSU sucks *** when it comes to customer support. **** them!!

I found rust on mine it turned out it was the mounting stud for the wing and it leaked out in between where the wing meets the trunk. mine was about the size of a dime peeking out from under the wing. My buddy is a service guy at a local mitsu dealer he said not to worry the body warranty should be 8 and 8 (8yrs 80,000miles I assume) and he said just bring it in when the wing starts peeling he was actually suprised it had not started already. The body warrenty is normally always longer than any powertrain warranty so I would not worry. just take it to them and there is no reason they can argue against it.

 

I have the same sh*t. I just noticed it over the weekend at the carwash. The trunk lid is rusting where the mounting holes for the wing are.

 

funny thing is, mine wasnt where the bolts come through the trunk lid. mine was right at the edge of the wing. sucks

 

That seriously sucks...I'm going to have to do that in the near future...but since I had my trunk replaced by my dealer I dunno if it will rust

 

body warranty is 5 years/ 60,000 miles
rust will be covered, do not take no for an answer

 

Mine, too. Just yanked the wing off (for a Rexpeed spoiler), and there was a dime-sized spot where the paint was bubbled and flaky. Nowhere near a hole.

 

Don't even waste your time going to Mitsu with it. It'll only get you more upset than you are now.
