Angry Don't get into an accident like I did

Had an accident Monday afternoon on the way home from work and I just received the estimate, $5000 . Construction worker jumped out in front of the car in front of me to stop 35-40mph traffic and I rammed the car in front of me at about 10-15mph. My car looks like I hit a tree at 50mph and the pos I hit has no visible damage at all!!! It doesn't take much to bang this car up so be careful. So far parts to replace are: Hood, front bumper and all of it parts, intercooler, intercooler piping and one headlight.

Were you not paying attention or did the Evo not stop fast enough?

I would have to say the Evo stopped good enough to where I didn't have any engine damage. I was paying attention but it happened to fast and unexpectingly. If this happened in VA the worker would have been in trouble but it happened in DC so it's automatically my fault.

Yeah he almost received the beating of a lifetime but he took off after he saw me flicking off on the construction cones.

Yeah, I could see where the front end of the Evo would be expensive to replace if the damage was bad enough. sorry to hear you wrecked your car man.

Thanks guys. Be careful cause the car peeled up like a crushed coke can and I wasn't even going fast enough to set the airbags off.

Upgraded intercooler and piping cost more than the stock parts. I already checked into it.

I don't really care what state you're in.. If someone does something, that is unsafe, and causes an accident, technically that person is at fault... If someone was to run into traffic, causing vehicles to suddenly brake in order to avoid hitting him, that pedestrain is at fault. Although, your insurance company would probably have to reapir the damage and either you, or your insurance company has to sue him in civil court in order to get reimbursed for the damage.. But I would definately write the pedestrain a ticket and make you guys all go to court on it..

Well the police looked for him but couldn't find him. I overheard the police getting the construction companys info and stuff like that but I doubt it will go anywhere. I told my insurance company about it and they didn't seem interested. The guy I hit even said he would testify what happened if it came down to it. Maybe after my insurance company gets the bill for my car they will pursue it.
