Taking evo to mexico, 92 octane good?

Hey guys, im going through a dilemma right now, im taking the evo about 150 miles south into mexico for a trip, however totally forgot about gasoline out there. Ive been doing research and determined PEMEX officers 87 octane and 92 octane, which ive never heard of 92. Anyone know about this 92 octane and if it poses harm to the ride, thank u guys.... ill be leaving in about 5 hours! cheers

California's is 91.

Mexico's is higher than California's.

Cali' gas isn't bad for the EVO.

Therefore Mexico's 92 octane shouldn't be bad either.

Well, you could be right, or wrong....

Need to make sure they use the same method like US to calculate the effective octane rating, which is (R+M)/2

Good luck not getting your car stolen. You should definitey get Mexico insurance through your insurance or AAA for your car to play it safe. Also higher octdane gas is better for your car, it will do no harm. Unless your running 110 octane which usually damges oxygen sensors, a higher octane gas is better becasue it combustes more effectively

Good point. I'll rephrase --- as long as their gas is actually at that octane per ^^^that standard.

Also...for insurance...your local company will only cover (more than likely) 25-75 miles into Mexico. Check out BRAVO insurance for the interior of Mexico.

Personally, I don't take my car anywhere but work and school and only places where it stays within my line of sight. Good luck in Mexico.

110 octane gas only harms O2 sensors if its leaded.

i would worry if the gas is leaded or not versus octane, doubt you'll be pushing the car on max boost down there anyways

You'll be fine on 92 octane. Worst case scenario is that the car detects some knock and adjust timing to account for it so it won't perform quite as strong. However, I rather doubt you'll notice it.
