Another evo to m3 thread.....
Ok well recently I have been doing very well with my current job and moving up the ladder of management and I have been thinking of selling my evo for something a bit more "classy" or professional looking. I have always wanted an M3 but knew that I could never afford one and I always told myself that my next car after the evo would be an m3.
Anyways I've been looking around when I see one here an there but I have yet to find something that I was satisfied with until today. I was originally looking at a 2006 e46 but the price tag was $51,500. I also didn't like the fact that it didn't have HID's. The same dealership said that they had another one in the lot and it is byf ar the best looking m3 I have seen in awhile.
It's a 2004 E46 SMG FULLY LOADED (silver). The car has 23,000 miles and it is in mint condition! They are aksing 42500 but they are willing to budge. I'm confident that I can get them down to 38000 with the extended warranty. The current warranty exprires in August of 2008. I'm not too familiar with the SMG tranny but the car seems like a very good price. I spoke to the sales person at MotorWerka and they said that they don't mark up the price a lot on used cars. First she wants me to test drive it next Tuesday and she said that if I really like the car and the only thing holding me back is the price then they will do what it takes.
My question is does this sound like a decent price for this type of car with that many miles? I also am not too familiar with m3's as far as realiability, you never really hear the issues that an evo has but i'm sure the car does have it's flaw. Oh and on a side note I already checked with my insurance company and my premium will go down $8 a month swtching to the m3 with the same coverage. What do you guys think?

I've been telling myself the same thing, that my next car is going to be a M3, what I have to say if maybe you just want to wait a little till the V8 version of M3 come out, the price might go down a lilttle more. Good luck

If I was you I would be lookin at the Porsche Cayman S, and if thats not good enough than the Lambo!
A BMW M3
....next!
Are you really asking for M3 info in an Evo forum, or is this just a subtle means of announcing to the world that you're making a little scratch. If the latter is true then a BMW would be absoutely perfect for you. If it's the former, I recommend www.bimmerforums.com for E46 M3 information.
Beware, I went down this path, and I think I am coming back to the Evo, or even an RS4. I talked to friends with 2001/2002/2003 M3's and they are starting to show signs of age. Window motors, engines failing (on ones that had been tracked regularly), you name it. Not to mention, there is almost absolutely nothing you can do to the motor to get decent power out of it at a reasonable price (like the Evo.)
Now, if you want something that looks great, drives great, and turns heads, the M3 is it, but NOTHING on the car is cheap, and when the service plan runs out, I would SELL.
Also, if you are bent on the M3, hld out for a few more months, when the e92 is released, word is, the price of the E46 will drop 30% or more as more come on the market for sale and trade after upgrades.
But, as was said, check the bimmer forums.
